Why do you draw Castlereagh with scars on his hands? Is there a story behind this or is it just for funsies? Also did he have blue or hazel eyes? 🧐
Heeey, thanks for the question and welcome back, everyone, to the castlereaghsplaining hours lol
First, he had blue eyes, you can see it in most portraits, and all the contemporaries agree on that as well!
boo
Second, I give him scars on his right hand when I draw him post-1817 cause in 1817 he had a nasty accident when Emily's dog chewed up his hand like he was a discarded barbie doll: "the sinews of the first and second fingers being separated, and the nail and top of the first finger being nearly torn off". The dog chomped on his hand so hard he had to use his other hand to open its mouth. His foot was also injured, everything became inflamed and he took four months to fully recover (everyone, of course, made fun of him) so it must have been bad and, I imagine, left some scars behind, although it's hard to find a description of the injury after it'd healed. So mine is an artistic interpretation though I haven't drawn it in a while so idk mb I'd do some stuff differently now lol
Hope this helps!
