with the weird timeloop like stuff with amphoreus, i have this theory. (spoilers for 3.1 story quest)

if i was interpreting this right, they receive a sort of... prophecy about how they'll die, when they ascend to divinity. we know the only way mydei can die is being stabbed through that one incredibly specific spot (tenth thoracic vertebra), and the only one he's told this to is phainon.

there are a lot of similarities between the flame reaver and phainon in design, and i have an idea. (might make a post about the similarities later.)

phainon somehow goes mad from the black tide, likely after ascending based on the pure power we see from the flame reaver, and kills mydei. i think this would be interesting, instead of phainon killing mydei because mydei had gone mad, it's what can hardly be considered phainon anymore killing mydei out of his own madness.

time bullshit happens/the loop resets- whatever it is that then gets phainon, now the flame reaver, back in time.

he is the thing that kills his own village.

he is the thing that kills orynx.

and mydei is the one who kills him, because it's always been mydei, it has to be mydei.

(and that badass cutscene that shows mydei absolutely WRECKING the flame reaver-)

when mydei says in another life, it's true.

because in this one they're fated to destroy each other.
