The most wonderful time of year is upon us once again. I had wayyy less time than I did the last two years, but I'm still very proud of what I could accomplish! Here's some rambling.
Some initial sketches! I still really like how their poses look together here! I ended up reworking it to bring a bit more of zigs knight-like characteristics into that scene, switching the double pistols for a sword and shield. I still think these poses could have worked, but changing it solved a lot of problems quickly (like better integrating the top left of the picture) so I don't regret it. I still like it, frames them like dispersing forces rather than a unit. Decisions decisions.
If I had more time I might have gone with their mechs all wrapped up in one another like there on the right as well, something about two dispersing forces only colliding again in the battlefield. I had a lot to work with!
I started with a vertical comp like my other secsam pieces and eventually settled on a horizontal one. I still really like the vertical ones with the big empty space on the lower right near the two tiny figures together, but I knew I'd have to solve a lot later on if I went that route and I did have a tight time limit.
