CAT 5 and CAT 6 Ethernet cables are today's most common ethernet cables. Generally speaking, they are both used to transmit data over long distances using twisted pair wiring. A CAT 5 Ethernet cable is a twisted pair cable used to transmit data signals over longer distances. It can support up to 100 meters and transfer data at speeds up to 1 Gbps.
The CAT 6 Ethernet cable is a high-speed data transfer cable that supports 10Gbps and 100Mbps. The CAT 5E used to be the most commonly used cable type, but it has been replaced by the newer, more advanced CAT 6A/CAT 7 cables due to their enhanced performance characteristics.
Similarities Between CAT 5 and CAT 6 Ethernet Cables

Cost: Both types of cable are priced similarly; however, they're generally more expensive than Category 3 cables due to higher quality materials used during manufacturing processes as well as improved performance capabilities such as increased bandwidth requirements on more extensive networks that require faster speeds with fewer latency issues when sending packets across large distances between devices connected through network switches/routers where each port has its dedicated link back onto an Ethernet switch/hub which feeds all ports together before going out through another intersection again further downstream (one device connects directly into another device via its dedicated link)
