Category is: The Art of Shitposting
To kick off our inaugural month of Artist Picks, we are proud to present our guest host as none other than the incomparable Cat Frazier of @animatedtext, coming in hot with her favorite Shitposts.
What is Shitposting, we hear (some of) you ask? Our good friends at Wikipedia define it as:
"In Internet culture, shitposting is posting posts or content to an online forum or social media that is 'of aggressively, ironically, and of trollishly poor quality.' Shitposts are designed to derail discussions or cause the biggest reaction with the least effort."
We asked Cat for her thoughts on Shitposting, and this is what she had to say.
What does the art of shitposting mean to you?
Shitposting means sharing something you find funny without worrying if it's pretty or coherent. Shitposts feel chaotic and personal. Because of that, they're the most entertaining content on the internet.
Why did you pick these particular posts?
Seeing these posts was like finding a snapshot of someone's mental state. Some of them are poignant commentary, and others are literally photos of a buff kangaroo. The low res found images are absurd. The text posts feel rushed and specific. With all of these posts, you can tell the person behind the screen was just having fun.
So sit back, and enjoy the art of Shitposting through the eyes of @animatedtext!
