Loretta Lynn
It's been a while in this house with no cat, now. And I was kind of resigned to it. I'm not around all that much, and we have a big trip coming up this summer.
then I was away for a week, and I came back, and Dude was like "this house is wretched to be alone in for that long." and I said well. If you want... and he said "yeah let's check the Cat Distribution System."
Then he went away for an entire day, and I was alone in the house, and I was like "please god can we check the cat distribution system because this house is wretched without a little dude in it" and he was like you're picking up what I'm putting down.
so he set the proximity to within this city, and 300 cats came up. so he searched for a bunch of criteria. And wound up with about 20 cats. And so we've settled on one whose rescue org named her Loretta Lynn, who they rescued about a year ago as a barely-adult pregnant cat in a hoarding situation. She birthed four kittens, and then once they were mostly grown she started beating them up. So she has to be a solo cat. She has dental problems. But we went and met her, and she is reasonably sociable, playful, healthy, and Decided In Her Opinions.
Good enough. We figured, we can't take an FIV+ cat, because we're going to have to use the boarding place we used with Chita once in a while (including this summer). We can't take a senior cat or high-special-needs cat, because we just can't do it again so soon after Chita. We can't take an untouchable feral because we need a cat who is a companion. But we can take an abusive mother, because we don't have any other cats and don't plan to.
So we're picking her up today. She may not wind up to be my true beloved, as Chita was, but I hope we get a solid fifteen years to have opinions at each other.
I need a little dude to take cute pictures of and post them because I have taken like three photos this entire year so far, with no little dude to act as a subject.
