A new hotel being built on one of the 200+ small islands of Lake Nicaragua. Construction has been underway for 8 months and is likely to take at least another 6 months. Materials are brought in by boat and the islands are all small enough that it's hard to imagine how the crew maneuvers to assemble the structures. There was no small machinery in sight.
Eolo wind turbines mingle with mango trees off the Inter-American highway in Rivas. With this farm in full swing and hydro to back it up, Nicaragua is on pace to meet its goal of 74% energy demand from renewables by 2018 and 91% by 2027.
