Sant Martí de Canigó
In his chamber, in his room, the ancient elf bustles about in the dark. The titan spell-key fragments float stubbornly over his desk. He does not look at them, his head hurts. Three clocks chime one-bits of parchment paper. Parchment paper on the desk scribbled, hands float waiting still, the old elf slinks about the room once twice thrice once twice.
There are no mirrors, very little light to see, it hurts. The spell key with holes for phrases floats unlocked on the main desk. Dust hangs in the air in little starlight flecks-bad for breathing.
“Catalon” “Catalon. CATALON CATA-” the old elf screams wrinkled neck twisting before his collar. In the corner under books and things is a light. A little ball of bronze with a big blue eye shuffles out of sleeping papers on the desk spell key floating stubbornly three clocks tick.
Three clocks tick the old elf taps his stick “Ping” it says the blue-eyed ball rolls to the floor and digs itself a dust pile. “Ping” it rolls. “PING.” It’s gone, gone to the vanity with curtained mirror.
“Log.”
“Log.”
“Hello Master NethermoONOON-OON-OON” “LOG FILE. LOG. Bit of junk useless junk blasted useless junk broken.” “Log date located, retrieving archive presently.” the little ball sings happy sing-song sayingly. “No.” he spits, “Log. Log-current date. LOG CURRENT DATE.” “Current date, archive found: replaying-” NO NO NO LOG DATE, CURRENT DATE OPEN ENTRY. OPEN THE DAMNED PROMPT “-Log entry: One.”
“Ping” the ball says.
There is another elf. Young at thirty, maybe. He is made of blue now, but once he was not. The elf-boy in the blue had silver-platinum curls that dip in front of his face. He leans toward the old elf once elf three clocks tick They look at each other, one of them is scared, the other one is happy. “No.” The now-blue elf stands up, he’s not tall but likes to pretend, he talks first-talked first. “Ah. Hello Catalon.” “Hello Master Nethermoon.” the bronze ball sings. The young elf brushes at his chest, turns to the side, frowns at his bottom. He likes his knit shirt, he likes the heavy robe that makes him looks big. He likes the-hold on. The once-real elf tapped a wand to the bronze ball, there. Nose looks better now.
“There. Nose looks better now.” he said then and now. Knit shirt, thick robe cloak, slick the curls back. “For those watching, this is Ouron Nethermoon.”
“Associate to the High Magitecht of the Guild of Industrial Enchanters, with honors.” he says. “I am recording this for posterity-for when I am gone, in the chance.” Don’t say it, “In the chance when I am gone, that future elves will know my story.” He is so smart, so young. Not a wrinkle, not a twitch. His back is straight, his hands firmly grip at his robe’s breast. Look at the thumbs, the feeling comes back. Plush, like a fat cat’s fur. That robe took two week’s salary. His hand went to his pocket as he talked to the blue ball, pulling out a shiny palm-sized pocketwatch. Lost that watch. Three clocks tick. “And--that is the report for the day. Log file, please, Catalon.” the blue elf says. There is light in him, in his face, his platinum hair with the little curls at the ends that never stays slicked. He’s gone. The veiled vanity mirror shows nothing now.

John Deere Classic Preview: TPC Deere Run ‘A Course That Lends Itself To A Lot Of Birdies,’ Says CBS Sports’ Andrew Catalon – WCCO
(CBS Chicago) — The PGA Tour skipped the John Deere Classic last summer due to COVID. The event returns to TPC Deere Run this week for its 50th anniversary, with the Open Championship on the horizon. While many players will play in both, someone could secure a potentially career-changing invite with a win this week. One player who isn’t qualified for the season’s last major, but finishes in the…
