Bunch of random MTV World AU doodles, including some concepts for stuff. Details below!

Per a collaborative effort between me and a handful of friends, we decided to further realize the anime influence with Mads and push the Jojo's Bizzare Adventure really hard. I mean, in both of Mads' Undertale fights, she seems to pull a lot from Dio in the way she talks. So, we wanted to have some bootleg JJBA characters show up as incidentals in a boss fight., since Tenna does not legally have the rights to air JJBA. Riffing on Jotaro and Dio of course, there's Josh and Derek. Derek is named such because Tenna discovered live on air that 'Diego' and 'Gio' were already taken names, and had them changed on the spot so he doesn't get sued.

Next were some sketches for the gang's ACT sprites, which I would like to realize into full sprites sometime. Mads' pose is also another JJBA reference, being that one Jotaro pose in Heritage for the Future.

Another concept for a boss, based off Blooky's soundboard, and is inexplicably a frog. Maybe a Frogit reference? Dunno. Just made a guy. ...As you can see, I put more thought into some things as opposed to others. But, his battle I think would be a sort of challenge of endurance, somewhat similar to Chapter 4's secret boss, where actual attacks don't do anything and you just have to survive for the most part. Take too much damage and you just get kicked out of the fight, hence 'session terminated'. The mix and your skills were ass.

More MTV World AU designs! I'm having such a blast with these. Here's "Cathy" Ray, Elfama & Lafortuno, and Flickah! Information down below.

To recap some stuff regarding the AU, when the second Dark World was created, due to Tenna's association in a variety of ways, counterparts of some of the NPCs in standard TV World were created, this time with more of an MTT flare to them.

Cathy Ray is Tenna's counterpart. Since we don't really have a documented case of a second Dark World being created revolving the same object, I thought it'd be interesting if a second Tenna was created. If Tenna is the Dreemurr households time and memories spent with their television, then Cathy Ray is same deal for the Ghost House, mostly with MTT. While Tenna has a fairy family-friendly attitude, Cathy is more of the sleazier underbelly of the television world. He's charismatic like a rock star, always one to please his loyal fans. His ego is massive, and finds his mere beautiful presence to be a privilege for the Ghost Gang.

In a funny twist, the microphone he holds is Mike's counterpart. There's no obfuscation here, no tricks or twists, no endless debating on Mike's true identity: he's just an inanimate microphone for Cathy's own use.

Elfama and Lafortuno are Elnina and Lanino's counterparts. Representing, you guessed it, the aspects of fame and fortune. They're a pair of weird little gays (Elfama is a drag queen, I should note) that center their fight on what the Ghost Gang thinks is most important, the undying devotion that fame gets you, or the unending riches that follows it. The two can never seem to agree with each other, bickering the entire time. They're also a minor reference to Judgement Boy from Gregory Horror Show, given the love versus money theming. It's also why I gave them stripes.

Flickah is Shuttah's counterpart, spawning from haphazardly discarded accessories on the floor, such as a pink feather boa and a pair of sunglasses. They represent the paparazzi, being more obsessive about their picture taking than even Shuttah was, wanting every possible angle and expression and pose that they can possibly get. The idea came from the concept of MTT (in his ghost form, as Happstablook) posing in front of his mirror with these accessories on, as if he was on the front of some fashion magazine... and now those wishes are coming back to haunt him here.

There's other counterparts and original MTV World NPCs I want to work on, but I had doodled these guys the other day and wanted to slap some color on them.

Also, here's a size comparison between the Ghost Gang and Cathy. He's a good bit bigger than Tenna, all that ego's gotta go somewhere!

I absolutely adore your MTV AU so much, but I do have a few questions. Who would be the main antagonistic force in this story and the hypothetical final boss type character?

Firstly, thank you!! :D

Secondly... I have been pondering this a bit. I think before I talk about the antagonists, I should explain how MTV World is structured.

The dark world was created by MTT, in his bedroom, although it reflects the entirety of the Ghost House, including Mads and Blooky's rooms. In addition to the ghosts' influences, it also reflects a piece of Tenna, seeing as how typically specific objects don't usually have two different dark worlds created surrounding them. What results is a culmination of both MTT and Tenna's desires, wrapped up in one hot pink bedazzled bow.

What this means for MTT is that the whole world is themed around him. He's the star of the show, which the 'show' in question is like real life MTV: MTT is a figurehead for showing off new music videos, reality TV, and all the raunchy things in between. However, at this point in time, all that attention pointed at him is the absolute last thing he wants, and he's petrified. Sure, eventually he'd like to be in this position. But he needs to overcome an entire life's worth of anxiety and insecurities first. All the NPC characters are looking for MTT, hunting him down and trying to put him back up on the stage after he runs away, because he's the host! The show can't go on without its host!

What this means for Tenna though, is that the world is very similar to the original TV World, with warped and alternate dimension-like versions of his old friends. Characters like Mike, Lanino and Elnina, Shuttah, and the like are replaced with familiar looking counterparts. There too, of course, are original Darkners based around things in the Ghost House, but the point of Tenna trying to basically recreate his old life again, but it just turned out wrong this time, is very important.

All in all, MTV World is a personification into both MTT and Tenna's psyches, drawing from deep within them to represent things buried within.

Therefore... wouldn't it also make sense for a warped counterpart of Tenna himself to also exist? Seeing as how we don't really know what happens when an object is personified via a dark world, and then a new dark world is created with them still present... Would it be possible for an alternate MTV version of Tenna to be created? Perhaps throughout their journey, the Ghost Gang keeps seeing glimpses of Tenna in the distance, and they try to catch up to him, but he keeps vanishing. What they don't realize is this isn't their Tenna, but...

... "Cathy" Ray, MTV World's glamorous version of Tenna.

(I'm still working out the details with him, but he's the big twist villain instead of Tenna. Stay tuned for more, because I need to draw more of this guy.)

Cathy's gonna make some half-flirty comment to Mettaton (influenced by Mettatons percueved love for the tv), and Tenna's gonna tackle that man and start throwing down. Cathy might be bigger byt Tenna has decades of Supressed Rage from bei g Family Friendly. <- Funny thought anon had.

Oh you're EXTREMELY right. While MTT loves the TV (in the terms of it being Tenna), that love definitely got siphoned into Cathy and aided in his creation. Cathy has such a massive crush on him (although it comes across a lot more possessive and malicious), and if Tenna's going to be an obstacle then he'll do what it takes to get rid of him.

In your MTV World AU, does Tenna remember his violent death in the previous TV World? And if so, does that affect him in any way?

Tenna does remember everything that happened in TV World, including his untimely demise by the Knight's hand (although, some of the details are a little fuzzy...).

Throughout the Ghost Gang's trip through MTV World, Tenna feels a looming sense of dread hanging over his head, like the Grim Reaper is right behind him or something. He's terrified by the idea of history repeating itself, and despite having very little power in this world (since he's not the head honcho, that's Cathy), he's doing everything he can to prolong both the gang's happiness and his own life.

However, Cathy is crafty. They're both extremely aware of each other's presence in the world, and Tenna is making absolutely sure that the gang doesn't find out about Cathy. Cathy is using this to his advantage, metaphorically holding a gun to Tenna's head to make him comply with Cathy's wishes. This leads the gang to think that Tenna is the one doing all this messed up stuff, and really breaking their trust in him, especially MTT's.

Long story short, Tenna's fresh memory of the events of TV World, and especially his own death, is leaving him much more stressed out and frazzled than he'd like. He doesn't want it to happen again. He can't lose hold of the true last thing he has left.

Ohohohohohoho...They Cathy reveal is gonna be Sweet. All the time, all the mistrust the gang puts on Tenna. All the thinking it was him.

Mistrusting him, trying to stay away from him and- All of a sudden, they learn that it wasn't him to even begin with.

I love being devious. I want to talk about how Cathy gets fully revealed to the gang sometime, but I wanna like... make a comic about it something. It deserves the proper tact.

I love this au sm... Mew mew is such an icon in here. Oh and MTT's relationship with Tenna. So. SO UGHHH. Can't get enough of it.

Anyway, just wanted to ask what would be Cathy's equivalent of Tenna's black suit w cane dance? Or just any of his silly movements…

I got an image of the final fight against Cathy Ray, where Mads just latches on and starts trying to climb him Shadow of the Colossus style to punch him in the face.

Oh she absolutely would, no hesitation. She's scaling him like that video of Charlie Brown climbing the chain link fence like an animal.
