My neighbourhood has many cats and many children. They all make strange, unsettling noises by nature, so we play a fun little game: Cat or Kid?
Usually the time of the day is telling.
For example: 2pm on a Saturday? That cacophonous shrieking you hear in the vacant lot is probably the kids.
2am on the other hand... That menacing yowling at my front door that sounds like it's mimicing a human child? is the cats. At least, I pray to the gods it's the cats.
