The Cats Wiki Needs Your Help!

We're setting up a new set of galleries - Specific Non-Replica character galleries. It promises to be a really interesting set of galleries - wanna see all the interpretations of Bombalurina that don't come from John Napier's mind? The huge breadth of creativity out there! But we need help! It's a huge amount of work going through the photos from each non-replica production we have archived, and adding photos to the relevant galleries. So if this sounds like something you'd want to help build, come on over! We need experts in non-replica productions!

That's okay. I more reblogged it just to inform Cats fans that this is a thing so it's not just three people handling all of it. Honestly going into source mode really helps with any editing and adding all the photos is pretty monotonous but easy stuff. Which I like to do.

It has been brought to my attention that George is a typically-forgotten kitty cat. I thought I might share what's probably my favorite photo from the George Gallery on the Cats Wiki.

Since pet cats are beautiful and intelligent creatures, they certainly have things that they like and things that they do not like. They love to play and entertain, fresh foods and naps in places they love. And a lot of things Like children, she loves things, and you may find these things boring on another day, and your role is to follow your cat to find out what he likes and what he does not like

I’m going cross-eyed trying to work out casts for the early US productions of Cats.  Why do so few places bother to list swings?!  It’s just rude to leave them off!  Playbill.com HAS all the BRoadway information, but only displays it as Actor/Character (Understudy), which is no use to me without the DATES! 

And then there’s cast lists with great big assumptions and/or mistakes and I KNOW it doesn’t look right, because there’s *1* page of a playbill scanned here - surely that’s GOT to be accurate?  More reliable than a generation-loss copy?  But with only one page scanned it doesn’t, again, give me information about swings.

Then there seems to have been one point in like 1988 where there were THREE US Tours at once?  like, why? How on earth am I meant to know if this review from a local paper - which DOES list swings - belongs to the 1st, 3rd or 4th US tour?!

If anyone else wants to weigh in editing the Wiki, I would LOVE some help... you just need to be able to google...

Fergus Logan played Tumblebrutus (Bill Bailey) in the Cats video.  umm.  As far as I can tell, it’s not actually a role he’d played before, but he’d spent at least 3 years as Mistoffelees, both UK Tour and London.  

How did that audition go?  “Yeah, you’re great, we love you, want you in the film.  But we’re getting a kid over from Broadway to play your role, so we’re offering you a minor background character instead, cool?”
