One little kitten...
You want adventure? You want wild animals? You want to be surprised every day? Then get a cat. Or even better – get three!
It was a bit over 8 years ago, that I’ve seen a young cat sitting in front of my window. The neighbor’s cat, I knew, with a little brown butterfly on her nose. She stared at me, I stared back at her and that was it. Two years later, the cat started to sleep behind the house. She was really shy, so we build her a bed and that was it. Over the next year, the big got bigger, she got a roof, to make it more like a cave and we started to feed her. She was really skinny and it turned out, that food was the way to her heart! In the mornings she started to greet me and waited for me, when I came home from work. One sunny day, when I was sitting outside, she surprised me, by climbing up on my lap. And before I knew what was happening, she had moved in with me. You know how they say, that cats choose their own can openers? It is true and even more so in this case. Of course I went to talk to the neighbors to let them now about their cat. And when telling them, that she liked to snuggle with me in bed, they were more than surprised. Why? Kitty was special. She didn’t snuggle with her former humans. She tolerated them and the other cat that was living in the apartment. Once she had kittens, she was fine with it, when the little human wanted to keep one of the kittens. It was when they decided to bring a dog into the house that she packed her bags and moved out.
So, there I was. I never fancied myself a cat person. Dogs I can get along with. They get me, I get them, we agree on almost anything. A cat is, how shall I say this - most cats are bloody divas! And this diva needed a new name! So bye-bye Kitty, hello Avena!
Now it is another four years later and we got two new roommates: Rufus and Pino! Those two, I got on purpose. I just didn’t know how spoiled I was, since Avena is kind of the perfect cat! And now I have three cats and a lot of chaos!
