Lol what, Gilbert is so dumb. The light novels are truly a gift to the fans, they're so silly and cute .
Is it canon that Break has nightmares?
It is!!! At least, as long as The Caucus Race light novels are canon, which, as far as I’m aware, they are!! (Someone please correct me if I’m wrong!)
“‘Good night, Xerx-niisan. Sweet dreams.'
Sweet dreams.
Sharon often added those words to her bedtime greetings.
Fifteen years ago, after being taken in by the Rainsworths, waking or sleeping, Break had been tormented by memories of the crimes he’d committed as the knight Kevin Legnard. The first person to speak those words to him had been Sharon’s mother, Shelly.
Somewhere along the way, as if she’d inherited them from her mother, Sharon had begun to say them, too.
In a way, the words were like a prayer.
Even now, when Break no longer had nightmares every night.
She probably did it without being particularly conscious of it.
And so Break thanked her, and he didn’t tell her it wasn’t necessary. He just smiled, returning the greeting:
‘Good night, Sharon.’”

(If you haven’t read the light novels, you definitely should!! They’re very good. Cradle Song is of course my favorite story so far(—I need to finish Vol 3 myself). It provides some beautifully tragic insights into Break’s psyche!!)

So I got a scanner and am having fun figuring out how to use it, so here are the internal covers of the Japanese edition of the Caucus Race novels!
