The original goes like this:

The expression Mikey uses is 気に入った, which means to like, to be fond of, to be pleased with, or take a liking to something. Because of the courage and mettle Takemichi displayed, Mikey has decided he likes the dude.

"I've taken a liking to you, Hanagaki Takemichi." or "I like you, Hanagaki Takemichi." are indeed good translations for that! The words are exactly what they seem, simple and straightforward.
