Today I just wanted to talk about the spin-off Geronimo Stilton book series. Specifically, the Cavemice book series, the Spacemice book series and the Micekings book series. However I won't talk about the Heromice book series here as I already ranted about it before. Without further ado, lets dive right in.
Firstly, I want to talk about the three Geronimo Stilton spin-off book series in general. So in my opinion the story itself isn't very noteworthy as it is quite mediocre and it doesn't have the charm as the original Geronimo Stilton book series or any of it's spin-offs like the Kingdom of Fantasy book series and the Thea Stilton book series. It just feel the same-ish as the original Geronimo Stilton book series but it lacks heart and care put into it. I honestly think that the reason it felt this way to me is because I seriously think that these three series are lazy cash grabs that's just made to get even more money from the rodents (people) who buy this mediocre excuse of a children's book. Also these books aren't as good as the fandom make it out to be. (I'm seriously sorry if this makes you offended. It's ok we all have different opinions here ok and yours is valid. If you like or even love these books then great. All the more power to you).
I also want to talk about how the author did Petunia Pretty Paws so dirty in the Geronimo Stilton spin-off book series. While yes, Petunia isn't the only character who gets replaced or gone from the Geronimo spin-off book series, she is the only main supporting character who isn't in the books. Which makes me sad because I think that Petunia is a great character who deserves way better. Instead of making her Geronimo Stilton's love interest in the spin-off book series, they instead decided to give him a bland love interest for Geronimo in all of the spin-off books. Even in the Spacemice books where he personally wrote it. Wow Geronimo, I didn't know you were such a player. Then again, Geronimo could be afraid of exposing the fact that he has a crush on Petunia so he made a fictional character instead. I'm just mourning the lost potential of Petunia Pretty Paws.
One of the few things that I like about this book series is the lore because I genuinely find it very interesting especially in regarding the implications of Geronimo's universe. For example, in the Cavemice spin-off book series the dinosaurs, ice age animals and sapient species such as rodents, saber tooth tigers and bears exist at the same time which has a lot of interesting implications. However, the Spacemice book series is fictional in universe which means that it never happened in universe and there's no loooooorrrrrrreeeee. But at the same time, this book series can help us figure out what Geronimo thinks of his friends and family as well as their dynamics with each other. For the Micekings, it is ambiguous whether the book series is fictional or non-fictional in universe so we'll just assume that it's a non-fictional book series. Which means just like the Cavemice spin-off book series, there is loooooorrrrrrreeeee which makes me slightly like this book series.
Another thing that I liked is the different and unique villainous species which might be speciesist. In the Cavemice series, there are the Sabre Tooth Cats, which replaced the pirate cats as the villains. In my opinion, they are really cool and gives us the reader a lot of loooooorrrrrrreeeee. There are also the dragons in the Micekings series who are also mouseeaters. But, in the Spacemice book series there is no species who like eating rats who are villianous. There is however a book about space pirate cats but there isn't and it's just there yellow ai of the ship or something that turned into a cat. I don't know, I've only browse the book so maybe I'll read it later.
In my opinion, the art style is ok. I just think that it's weird and doesn't fit with the story. The art style for the Cavemice and Spacemice book series is actually beautiful but I think that it is more suited for a Thea Stilton book. Meanwhile I think that the Micekings art style is an eyesore to look at.
Anyways, that's all for now. I hope that you have read this far into my post and enjoyed reading it. If you want more quality content like this, please don't forget to like this post comment down below and to follow my Tumblr account. I'll see you all next time.
Also please do not get too angry at me, this is just my opinion ok. If you disagree with me, which I think is the majority of you it's ok. I just want the voice out my own opinion.
