So I completely spaced that I didn’t have a master post for all my ficlets/ random headcanons that I attach to asks (Thanks @kagetsukai for mentioning it!). So I made one for you guys! There isn’t a whole lot there, and I can’t find the links to some of the ones I know I posted so it’s not complete yet but here are a few!

Cayden Kendells Background

So here it is! I had to re-write it a bit but I finally have a full background for Cayden!

Cayden James Kendells is the second son of  Arl Urien Kendells of Denerim and the little brother to Vaughn Kendells. Growing up Cayden spent a lot of time trying to one-up Vaughn, trying to prove to his father that he was just as worthy of his attention as his older brother, forcing a rift between the two boys. Cayden saw Vaughn as a barrier between him and their father, while Vaughn saw Cayden as a nuisance.

After the death of their father at Ostagar Vaughn became the Arl of denerim briefly before being removed by Howe and killed by the Hero of Ferelden. In that time the first thing Vaughn did was send the 11 year old Cayden to the Denerim Chantry, to become a Seeker of truth. Before he could be sent to Orlais however, the Battle of Denerim takes place. Safe within the walls of the Chantry Cayden sits and watched, this was a pinnacle moment for him. It was the first time he had seen humans, elves, dwarves, and mages all fight alongside one another and it was then, as he watched from the windows of the Chantry, that Cayden decided that if the Seekers were going to be his life, then he was going to be the best Seeker he could.

Once he was brought in for training in Orlais, Cayden’s tutelage was assigned to one Cassandra Pentaghast. It was a struggle at first because for the first time in his life Cayden was face to face with someone who clearly couldn’t care less that he was of noble birth, but after a few session of getting his ass whooped in the training ring Cayden started to catch on. His birthright won’t define him as a Seeker, it’s his actions that will. After 7 years under Cassandra’s watch Cayden took his vows and received his abilities as a full fledged Seeker of Truth. It is at this point that Cass asked him to help her in her search for the Hero of Ferelden and later the Champion of Kirkwall. It isn’t until after the Conclave explosion and Cass witnesses the change in Lord Seeker Lucius in Val Royeaux does Cassandra sends a message for him to return to Haven and join the Inquisition.

💐 Does your OC like flowers? What are their favourites? Do they keep a garden of some sort? What flowers would they use in a flower crown? (and if you like, research the meanings behind those flowers!)

Cayden likes all sorts of flowers! if he had to pick a top 3 list it would be, in no particular order: Crystal Grace, Prophet’s Laurel, and Dawn Lotus. Alas! he is one of the poor unfortunate souls who can’t keep a plant alive for more than 3 days.

 🍂 What are their opinions on the different seasons? Which one do they hate and which one do they love and why?

Cayden is a graduate from the Varric Tethras School of Complaining™. He hates the Winter because it turns his hair into iciclesles, Spring because it’s ridiculously humid, Summer because it tooo friggin hot and makes him sweat, the only reasonable season the him is Autumn. Not too hot, not too cold.

💎 Does your OC collect anything? Is there a reason? When did they start and is it beginning to turn into a little bit of a hoarding issue? What do they do with their collection?

Cayden likes to collect various rocks and pebbles, they remind him of where he has been. It’s not a hoarding issue for him, mostly because every year on the anniversary of being sent to the Chantry he digs a hole and buries them. He doesn’t really have a reason for burying them, but he enjoys doing it.

📚 If your OC was given some kind of forbidden knowledge, what would they do with it? Would they tell anyone? Use it for evil or good? How would it change their outlook on life, if at all?

He would keep his mouth shut and probably not use it at all unless it was absolutely necessary, he tends to be wary of magic that he doesn’t know a lot about.

🌗 Early mornings or late nights? What do they spend their time doing during these hours?

Early mornings, he likes to wake up before the sunrise and read with a cup of tea.

Character Curiosity Tuesday! What is the first thing that changes between Luna and her love interest when they first realize they have feelings for each other?

Thanks for the ask Annie!!!!

It definitely takes her some warming up to the idea, but once she confirms her feelings Luna straight up avoids Cayden after realizing she like likes him. Like, to the point that she goes out on missions by herself if given the chance, much to Cayden’s confusion and dismay. Her reasoning for her impromptu ghosting was that she really didn’t think that she was relationship material, she was so afraid of messing up in some way, especially with Cayden, her partner.

For Cayden’s part in all this, he wears it all on his sleeve and has since he first met Luna. It was very much a love at first sight on his end, and so he would do everything he could to make her laugh, smile, and feel confident about herself.
