honestly, he thought he was going to be able to close up the gym early. he didn't know anyone else was there. that's why he had been angrily yelling on the phone and even threatening the person he was talking to. "we'll talk about this later." he quickly hung up the phone when he realized that he wasn't alone. cayden took a quick glance over at them, trying to relax his shoulders. "sticking around for a private lesson?" he was actively trying to make his voice lighter, or at least softer, than a couple of moments ago.

  EVENT: FOUNDER’S DAY MOVIE NIGHT   LOCATION: NEAR KALMIA APOTHECARY    CLOSED FOR : @caydenbergsman

          Credits rolled across the large makeshift screen in the town square as everyone applauded the movie as if someone in town had made it. Small towns. With feet still kicked up against a pile of pillows, Viviane leaned over the edge of her roof to watch everyone pack up their things and say by to loved ones. She felt almost god-like being able to see everyone go about their lives without the idea someone was watching them from above. Her amusement began to fade over it until she spotted Cayden gliding through the crowds, eyeing someone in the distance. Like a predator after his prey, she watched him weave in-between different people until finally catching the arm of the person he was after. 

          Surprise turned to horror as she watched him move the other body to the alleyway beside her shop, jumping to her feet to race down to see if he needed help. Only a minute passed before she hit the bottom step and had shoes on to walk out the back of the shop when she heard the crunch. Her steps slowed as she watched Cayden drop the body at his feet and turn to the sound of her stepping into view. “What the fuck?” She thought to check on Cayden, but her instincts went to the fallen body as she realized it was another vampire. “You can’t do this! You can’t kill your own kind... The rules.” Her mind spiraled as she looked around them for anyone else who might have witnessed what happened. “What were you thinking?”

          Her eyes had been staring down at her phone for the last hour before she got the courage to dial his number. Effort never really something she had to put into friendships until she came across Cayden. One ring in, she hung up with courage deflating in her chest. ‘Fuck, just dial it.’ Her teeth buried themselves within her bottom lip, contemplating whether or not a text would suffice. 

          Back and forth.                     Back and forth.                               Back and forth.

          ‘ My apartment? Thirty minutes? I have a blood bag! ’ Her thumb tapped against the send key before she could overthink her wording, her offer to get him to come over. Her text mirroring the confirmed send back into her eyes. All she wanted was to thank him; to show a little effort on her end when it came to whatever they were — Acquaintance? Friends? She paced the entire square footage of her apartment, refusing to sit as she waited a response.

           Seconds trickled by as her hand clutched the inside of Cayden’s arm, holding her breath for the first time she laid eyes on Lukas. The moment didn’t come as the crowd was too thick to pick him up in the crowd, so she settled on distracting herself from the conversation that would inevitably happen between them. Melodies bounced from room to room as she allowed her hips to sway to the music before pulling Cayden closer. 

          “You don’t have to stick right by my side,” Viviane said under her breath to keep prying ears from picking up on their conversation. “We both know I can take care of myself, Cayden. Plus... It isn’t your responsibility or his to watch out for me anymore.”
