Oooooh I’m Gonna Love You really stood out to me on the highlight medley, and it’s living up to the expectations! I love the rhythm in the melody, and Kyungsoo and Wonstein sound great together, and that *chorus*! But damn it ends so abruptly!
Ohhh…My Love is such a smooth listen, and Ksoo is really showing off his vocal agility in this one. This one feels the most like it could have been an exo group track, despite its length, but I’m *so* happy it’s Kyungsoo’s; the tone is near perfect for him. 😭
It’s Love, YES, at last, a song longer than 3 minutes! Yeees OMG I’m LOVING this! He sounds so beautiful on this one, and his tone is so resonant yet gentle! This one is lovely, it puts me in mind of the old ballads from the 60’s and 70’s that I love, but yet there’s still an r&b flavor to it?
Dad has kind of a slow-building feel to it, yet for so much of it ksoo stays up in that higher register, so it really does feel like a child talking to their father, and omg he’s got so much vulnerability and emotion in his voice here, it’s beautiful!
Ohhh wow, I *love* how he’s singing on I’m Fine!!! I love that he’s staying a little deeper on it, and it feels so much like a story told through music. It’s so warm, but almost a little haunting?
Si Fueras Mia 😭 I can’t say anything to his pronunciation, but holy shit to my ignorant ears he sounds perfect! I’m so glad the Spanish version was for the longest song on the album, because Kyungsoo singing in it again is such a pleasure. ❤️
Rose in English, omg 😂🤣😂🤣 AHH! He just swore in English again, why does that get me??? !!! This is so funny, this version is more…mischievous, even silly, compared to the Korean version? Like the mv is funny, but the lyrics are quite romantic. You can *tell* Kyungsoo wrote the Korean version; it’s so earnest and sweet, and the English version feels very Justin Bieber. I’m having a hard time *not* laughing. Like he sounds beautiful, obviously, but omg these lyrics are really tickling me this first listen.
Overall, the instrumentals and his tone make for a truly lovely debut, and I’m so happy and proud of him, but holy hell this listen was over too fast. 😞 I could sit and listen to Kyungsoo sing for hours, and the mini didn’t even clock half of one. 😢 Damn you sm. And what’s sadder is I know it’s an acoustic album, but it still has a smooth R&B sound that permeates all the tracks, so it’s still got elements of his signature sound. And that may just be the nature of Kyungsoo’s singing, but it makes for such a warm, soothing mini, and there’s just too little of it. 😔 Since Kyungsoo himself asked for favorites, I’m gonna say *for now* it’s a toss up between I’m Gonna Love You and It’s Love. (Realize he asked for just ONE favorite but be reasonable sweetie.)
And again, I know he started guitar lessons, so if he ends up playing any of these live at some point, whether it’s a concert or a busking or even a vlive snippet I think I’ll cry.
