CBSE Launching Free AI Bootcamps in September 2025
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is no longer just a buzzword—it has become one of the most essential skills of the 21st century. Recognizing this, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced a series of free AI bootcamps starting from September 2025. These bootcamps are aimed at both students and teachers, with the goal of making AI education more inclusive, practical, and accessible across schools in India.
Here’s everything you need to know about this exciting initiative.
Why AI Bootcamps?
Over the past few years, CBSE has taken major steps to integrate AI into school curricula. The idea behind these bootcamps is simple—equip students and teachers with the right AI skills that are relevant not only for academics but also for future career opportunities. By offering these sessions free of cost, CBSE is ensuring that no student or educator is left behind due to financial barriers.
Bootcamps for Students
The student-focused bootcamps are designed for Classes 9 and 10. These will be held online in four phases, spread across different months to ensure maximum participation.
Phase 1: September 1–17
Phase 2: October 6–17
Phase 3: November 3–18
Phase 4: December 1–16
During these bootcamps, students will not just learn theory but will also engage in hands-on AI activities. They are advised to use a desktop or laptop during the sessions so they can practice exercises effectively. The focus will be on problem-solving, creativity, and applying AI tools in real-world situations.
Capacity Building for Teachers
CBSE has also designed a parallel program for teachers of Classes 11 and 12 who are responsible for teaching AI in schools. This initiative is being conducted in collaboration with IBM, a global leader in AI and technology.
The teacher capacity-building programmes (CBPs) will take place online in September and October. The schedule is divided according to class level:
Class 11 teachers: September 2–4 and October 8–10
Class 12 teachers: September 15–17 and October 22–24
Each session will be held in the afternoon from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, giving teachers enough time to balance school duties and training. Importantly, CBSE has instructed schools to nominate teachers who have not yet attended such training, so more educators can benefit.
India AI Impact Festival 2025
Alongside the bootcamps, CBSE is also launching the India AI Impact Festival 2025 in collaboration with partners like NITI Aayog’s Atal Innovation Mission, Intel India, and the Ministry of Education.
The theme for this year is “AI Innovation for Social Impact”, encouraging participants to design AI solutions that help society.
Impact Creators: Students can showcase AI-based projects, with a special sub-category on AI for Accessibility.
Impact Shapers: Educators can share innovative AI teaching practices.
Impact Nurturers: Schools and institutions can present initiatives that support AI learning.
Winners will receive expert mentoring and national-level recognition, making it a golden opportunity for students, teachers, and schools to gain visibility.
Why This Matters
The CBSE AI bootcamps and festival mark a significant shift in how education is evolving in India. Some key benefits include:
Early exposure to AI skills for school students.
Professional development for teachers, ensuring they stay industry-relevant.
Promotion of innovation and problem-solving among young learners.
Equal opportunities for schools across urban and rural areas.
A strong step towards making India an AI-driven economy.
Final Thoughts
The launch of free AI bootcamps in September 2025 is a progressive step by CBSE that will shape the future of Indian education. Students will get a chance to explore AI in a practical, hands-on way, while teachers will be better equipped to guide the next generation. With the addition of the India AI Impact Festival, the initiative also celebrates creativity and innovation on a national platform.
If you are a student or a teacher under CBSE, this is the perfect opportunity to dive into AI and become future-ready. Don’t miss it—AI is not just the future, it’s the present, and CBSE is making sure you are prepared.
