Nothing to do with Steve Harris and Dave Murray, The Bolton Iron Maiden were rather a heavy psych band from Essex who did business as The Iron Maiden in the late '60's.
They released a single, but the planned album never arrived. . . . until 1998, by which time some kind of distinction from the NWOBHM band was obviously necessary. Some clown or the other has claimed that The Bolton Iron Maiden were a precursor to doom metal, but I don't hear it. However, it is definitely heavy, especially for its time period.
