It’s...done
Well. That’s it. The show is up. The opening came and went. And there she sits. A big twisted pile of lumber I call sculpture. I’m still kind of in a daze over the fact that it’s done. All that work, panic, fear, excitement, blood, sweat and tears (literally, if you look close enough) has culminated into one final piece.
So...now what?
There’s the paper to finish, and the defense to get through. But what about after that? I know these aren’t really questions for my MFA blog, but they’re all that’s on my mind now. How do I continue with this momentum? How do I keep making art after I don’t have a studio space and a wood shop all within half a block of my apartment? There’s a lot of hows and what-ifs in my life right now, and they’re starting to get to me.
I’m looking forward to critique this week, as this is really the first group crit I’ve had with this final piece. I don’t know that I have any specific questions per say, more just looking for feedback and reactions. The final piece is far and away different form the fishhooks I was proposing a couple months ago (thankfully I got some sense talked into me).
Here’s looking forward to Wednesday, and to getting this paper and defense over and done with.
Cheers everyone. It’s been an honor.
