California Coastal Cleanup Day
It’s a big day. Tens of thousands of people hit the beaches, rivers, lakes, and streams to snag litter before it reaches the ocean. As Coastal Cleanup Day 2016 totals continue to pour in we eagerly watch the numbers climb throughout the coming days. As it stands we confirmed the collection of 710,000 lbs of trash and recycling, along 1,475 miles of shorelines (coastal and inland) by more than 60,000 volunteers! Thank you for your energy, support, and time.
In addition to those numbers, here are a few moments from Saturday’s cleanup:
Thank you to everyone who came out to #protectourcoastandocean on Saturday, September 17th.
To those who don’t mind getting dirty...
To those starting environmental stewardship at an early age...
To the strong, dedicated, and energetic...
To new members...
And seasoned veterans...
Thank you!
We will see you next year, on the third Saturday of September, for our 33rd California Coastal Cleanup Day!
Again, thank you for cleaning up the environment and for educating others about volunteerism and marine debris prevention!
32nd Annual California Coastal Cleanup Day
The state’s largest annual volunteer event, California Coastal Cleanup Day is in its 32nd year! On the third Saturday of each September, tens of thousands of Californians gather along more than 2,000 miles of coastal and inland shoreline to clean and protect the environment - together. If you haven’t found your site yet please visit CoastalCleanupDay.Org. You can check the map, find your local county coordinator, or add it to your Facebook Event Calendar!
There are way more reasons to attend than there are to stay home so follow our quick three step guide and get out to your favorite local spots and have fun while doing some good!

And if you are absolutely unable to make it, your best friend is getting married, your dog is unable to reschedule their obedience school, or you ‘come down with something’ then donate or shop for the coast - keep this thing going!
