The Ccoa is a catlike storm spirit originating in Peruvian Quechua mythology.
She takes the form of a huge cat, as much as three metres from tip to tail. Her fur is grey, striped with black, with eyes lit by phosphorescence. She flies through the air with hail streaming from her eyes and ears, her eyes shooting out bolts of lightning, urinating rain as he goes. Her vast form above has even been known to block the sun or moon, and if threatened, she will arch and hiss and spit out hail at her attacker.
Before the harvest season, the Quechua people make offerings to the Ccoa to keep her away from their farms, but those who give the least impressive offerings might find themselves stuck anyway. Some say she belongs to the mountain gods, the Apus; some say that she will grant power to mortal sorcerers. Either way, she will leave humans be if left alone, but like any cat, she loves to roam and prowl the Peruvian grasslands and forests. If one wants to be spared her storms, an offering to keep her at bay might be your best bet.
