it’s been a few days and he’s still in the hospital. to be honest, he’s kind of relieved to be here rather than rehab. he’s never been there before, but just the thought of it gives him a bit of an uneasy thought. so while being in the hospital was a bit of a pain in the ass, he feels at least a little bit grateful to wake up here rather than wake up in a rehabilitation center in a few days.
he’s had many visitors in the last few days (most of them being jaebum, sana, his family, and sunggyu). seeing them come to check up on him somehow made him feel glad that he was able to call these people his friends now that they had a special place in his heart. they proved that he indeed still had people in his life that cared for him more than he could himself. that there were people who loved him and wanted to make sure that he was healthy and alright even if he wasn’t happy.
now he’s aware of the amount of people who had cared for him in his life and he’s so lucky to have such kind people in his life.
today was like any other day in this place. just him being a lazy ass in the bed, reading the get well cards people have written for him when he was still in comatose and still feeling blessed from reading each and every one of them either for the first time or reading it again and again. but his attention suddenly shifts up from it as he hears footsteps walking over to him.
“oh,” he says, putting the card he held back on his side table. “gramps, i didn’t expect to see you here. i thought you would have things to do with the rookies.”

Love + Child
“.. wh-what did you say?”
“i love you. i said i love you!”
silence isn’t golden. it’s holding your breath and looking anywhere but their face. it’s noticing the warmth rising to your cheeks and hoping the red isn’t too noticeable. it’s fearing their next words, actions, or both. she saw his adams apple bob with a gulp, and soojung turned her back to him.
“you humans.. this stupid vessel, it’s.. it’s all changing me and,”
she’s pulled around to face him when there’s only a foot of space between them. she can’t tell the look on his face. confusion? anger? disapproval?
“you’re changing me. you are giving me the feeling of humanity and.. it makes me wish i wasn’t this way. it makes me want to throw it all away and i.. i don’t know if i’m scared or if it’s.. i don’t know what it is! but i know that when you were in pain i wanted to take it away, i wanted to hold you and never let go and i don’t- i just-” her words become quick and mumbled, but one thing rings true.
she loves him, and knows he deserves all the love in the universe.
and suddenly they’re kissing, they’re close and holding onto each other as if it’s the only thing she knows how to do. he makes her want the one thing she’s always despised.
humanity.
~
“kim jiyong, don’t run off!”
“he’s only going to the swings, it’s okay, don’t worry.”
summer sun shined down upon soojung, sunggyu, and jiyong. who would have thought that these two would have ended up where they were now, together, and with a child? love finds itself in strange places. in the form of a hero and a card, and the form of a little boy who was left all alone and bullied in an orphanage. he would never let that happen again, he would never let anyone endure the pain he went through. they were even thinking of adopting a little girl later in the month.
their hands intertwined, and soojung always held tightly as if they could be ripped apart at any moment. if she spent the rest of her life loving sunggyu, giving him the love he deserves, she would call her life a success. if even one second was wasted, then it was all for nothing. of course, there’s the problem of age. it was happening, and people were questioning it. why was he aging and she wasn’t? it fell over soojung like a dark cloud every day, but every day she ignored and and paid attention to only her family.
she would take care of them for all their days.
to her, that’s the meaning to her life.
maybe humanity wasn’t so bad.
Warmth
soojung loved winter. many jokes had been made towards her by baekhyun, poking at the fact that the ‘ghost’ liked the cold. yeah yeah, they go hand in hand, whatever. it wasn’t just the cold she liked, but the fact that the city was covered in a blanket of white. how when it was dark outside, it wasn’t necessarily dark. the white snow somehow illuminated everything around them. it was a mixture of dark and light. maybe she liked it because it reminded her of herself. dark and light, life and death. one evening, a familiar face crossed her mind that she hadn’t thought about or seen in awhile.
it was strange how her feet seemed to work without her mind giving much thought to it, but twenty minutes later she was in front of sunggyu’s door, her hand hovering over the door. memories of a time he had taken her to the training center entered her mind, which only made her sigh. knock knock knock.
“how is it feeling?” soojung’s eyes were glancing down to gyu’s arm and leg as she sat back into the couch, trying not to come off as rude by looking. before he could answer, the power flickered once, twice, then off at the third flick. annoyance appeared upon soojung’s features. she was just about to turn it back on with a bit of magic when she remembered she couldn’t do any of that around sunggyu. her hand paused in midair and she quickly swiped it in front of her followed by a snap of her fingers. “..drat..”
it turned out that a large snowstorm had hit the city while the two were catching up. she was going to be there for awhile, it seemed. they were snowed in. gyu being gyu of course was more than prepared for this. there was just one thing that seemed to actually worry the phantom.
“aren’t you cold?” gyu insisted that he was fine, but soojung just wasn’t buying it. as they sat together in the living room, soojung finally walked over and sat beside him, tossing the blanket over the two of them. it didn’t help that her skin was just as cold as his metal, but she was determined to give him any heat she had.
if only she could give him actual body heat. if only she was an actual human girl.
Solace + Traumatic
“sunggyu.. kim sunggyu look at me!”
she couldn’t take it anymore. she couldn’t stand by and just watch anymore. when she heard about the possibilities, the side effects, the fact that he would have to be awake during the surgery, soojung couldn’t just wait at home, or in the waiting room. she had to beside him in the operating room. when she walked through the walls and saw what was on the other side, it was like a torture chamber of modern devices.
his screams are forever implanted in her memory.
she couldn’t listen to it anymore.
“look at me! i’m real, i’m here, i’m real i’m real!”
his sweaty, pale face finally turned towards her and she swears she could feel the life in him weakening. the pain pulled his attention away as he howled in agony.
“what are you doing to him!?” she screamed at the doctors, but they couldn’t see her. she only allowed gyu to see her. no, no this couldn’t continue. she couldn’t let them.
but, they had already started. wouldn’t stopping it ruin it all?
her head turned back and forth from the doctors, gyu, and his currently mutilated limb.
“sunggyu, look at me.” she said once more before placing a hand over his chest. and she swears, he knew she was real. that she wasn’t a hallucination made by pain.
“i’m going to make the pain stop, okay? i’m going to try to take it away.. j-just close your eyes. close your eyes gyu.”
they shared the pain, but only one set of screams could be heard.
Nightmare
“sunggyu?”
they were back in his domain, the hangman. everything was dark, and the only reason soojung knew that it was sunggyu across from her was that his hero outfit was almost identical to hers. his scythe gleamed in an invisible light, and she swore she saw a smirk on his face.
“what are you waiting for? give her a taste of her own medicine.”
the scythe was around her neck, she could see every detail of his eyes. she felt a warm liquid dripping down her chest. her white hair was suddenly stained scarlet.
“sunggyu?”
they were in her apartment now. familiar faces lay cold and lifeless on the floor. baekhyun, subin. their throats were slashed. she felt the familiar cold of sharp metal against her throat. only this time it was his hand. and then he squeezed..
“sunggyu?”
suddenly they were floating far above the city, the wind whipping all around them but oddly not affecting them at all. how would he kill her now?
he wouldn’t.
“soojung, help me! help me! please help me!”
she tried to step forward, but her limbs wouldn’t move.
“why won’t you help me? why are you killing me!?”
suddenly his heart was ripped out of his chest, and she felt something warm in her hand. it was still beating, but his body was already cold.
Mourn — I’ll write a drabble of my character mourning yours.
it feels different.
to another person’s eye, nothing has changed. the moon still revolves around the earth as the earth revolves around the sun. the grass is still green, the sky is still sky blue in the morning and a darker blue in the evening. dawn still comes before dusk. cards are still running around, hiding from any magical hero who will catch it.
nothing has changed in a normal human’s eye. but things have changed in the league.
( tw: death mention, negativity )
it’s been a week since sunggyu had turned into a familiar. no one knows how it had happened. some say it all got to his heart and he eventually transformed. others say it’s because of how much someone has hurt him that he eventually decides to give up. whatever it was, out of all the magical heroes who lived in busan, ricky was the one that had to shoot him down and kill him in front of other magical heroes.
he kept it in for seven days. he didn’t shed a tear when he shot the familiar down. he didn’t even blink when he saw the rookies in team nightshade weep. they knew it was for the best. they were taught how to fight creatures like this, after all. they knew the consequences and that it would eventually happen to anyone someday. but they didn’t expect it to hit them so soon especially because of the fact that their own leader died.
there was a new leader. most of the rookies in the team disliked him because he wasn’t like their former leader. he knows the leo card is free now and that jaebum was having a hard time coping over the lost of such a good friend. in fact, some people thought ricky was heartless for not even showing any emotion to the death. but some people defended him, saying he’s gone through enough pain and that this probably hasn’t affected him yet. and they were right. it didn’t.
he stops by the grocery store to get some ingredients for his dinner tonight. he planned on making himself tteokbokki tonight since didn’t have it in awhile and he was beginning to crave it when his mother served it to another customer earlier. he had some ingredients at home already, but he needed to buy the ones that he didn’t have yet. it was better to have everything than to miss out two or three ingredients.
while he’s on his way to the sauce aisle, he passes by the fruits before eventually walking backwards and then turning around to look at all the different kinds of fruits when he eventually finds the ones he was looking for… a kumquat.
he looks at them for a while before taking one in his hand and giving it a sniff. god did he feel weird doing this. but it was worth it in the end because he discovered it was ripe. sunggyu’s technique worked after all. he wanted to grab his phone and punch in sunggyu’s number and tell him about how his stupid technique worked. but he knew that if he did that, he wouldn’t get sunggyu to reply.
he takes one of the bags that were near him and put the kumquat in the bag, eventually sniffing and putting two more into the bag. when he puts the bag down in his basket, he looks down at his feet in attempt to hide his tears from anyone else.
it feels different. everything feels different without sunggyu.
Kiss: I’ll write our characters sharing a kiss, it can be innocent or passionate.+ Warmth: I’ll write our characters getting warm.
Kim Sunggyu was someone who Howon saw as a hyung; despite the age difference being a little different than it appeared to be. They would bicker and joke with each other and spend time together - he was a friend who Howon was glad to have. So when the other invited him over to his place, and Howon saw what had become of his beloved Hyung...
Something inside him broke.
The missing limbs shocked him; caused the dark haired male to drop his over night bag and stare blankly towards the other sitting on the couch. He was literaly missing and arm and a leg ( Just as his other dear friend Woohyun had lost an eye ). He didn’t understand why everyone he held close to him seemed to be in such pain lately, and it made Hwoon angry.
Walking over, he didn’t say a word as he sat next to his friend, and reached out to bring the other into his arms - a natural reaction. To protect those who he held dear. His face pressed into Sunggyu’s hair and he let out a long sigh before his lips pressed against the top of the other’s head.
“You’re so stupid.” he whispered, “You and Hyun should be wrapped in some sort of wrap and kept safe from the world. Look at you Sunggyu - you’re... so broken.” Howon was half tempted to find whoever had done this and end their life slowly; he’d enjoy watching the life leave their eyes.
“This is so unlike you Hoya...You haven’t made fun of me yet - No pirate jokes?”
“Not yet...It’s still sinking in. Give me a little while and I’ll tease you again.”
He just wanted Sunggyu to feel his warmth and know that Howon was there for him.
ccsunggyu replied to your post: ricky doesn't wash behind his ears
“YOU WATCH UR LANGUAGE YOUNG MAN”
"i’ll watch my language when you learn how to use your mizon snail ampoule, old man. you say you’re getting rid of your wrinkles but i don’t see any change. when i see change in your face, i’ll wash out my dirty mouth. who knows? maybe i’ll clean my dirty mind, too.”
The two were walking around where Sunggyu trains the rookies and other magical kids, to which had Soojung close to his side and on her guard 200%. There were two equally bad ways this could end up going.
a, soojung gets found out, kicks all the little kiddie’s asses and loses Sunggyu.
b, soojung gets found out and captured, and loses Sunggyu.
Because of course she could hold her own, but was that the best answer?
Her eyes caught glimpses of Sunggyu and she softened a bit. This was his pride and joy, his life. He took care of everyone so personally and in such a warm and caring way. He was showing her his greatest treasure.
Her arm linked with his and stopped him in his place as she reached up on her toes to place a kiss on his cheek. Peachy lips pulled away after a moment and his arm was free from her grip as she started walking again, having a different thought.
At least I’m learning my enemy more.
10. Neck Kiss.
In general, Jung Soojung can come off as cold, aloof, closed off, and proud. With her friends, she could be silly, fun, full of grins and pranks, and a good time. With a bit of Mr. Daniels in her system,
she could be a downright tease.
She didn’t remember why she was in Sunggyu’s car, nor why she was wearing his jacket. She didn’t remember that earlier she had partook in her usual night time ritual of having a glass and watching the sun go down and Sunggyu had found her on the roof, grandpa mode initiating. He demanded that he take her home and then it’s a blur.
“Sunggyu..” Soojung said, her head against the headread and tilted towards him. He didn’t look at her while driving, hands at ten and two like a good driver.
He was just a good little human.
Her hand slipped over and tapped his knee, to which he picked up and gave a soft squeeze before placing back on her lap.
What a good little human.
That was something Soojung was not.
She liked to play around.
Her head started to rest on his shoulder, innocent enough. Then she tilted herself up enough to place her lips at the base of his neck, placing light kisses there and starting to work her way up, and down, and up and…
The skin is soft there, and it’s so easy to just suck and leave a little mark. Humans were so fragile.
“Soojung- wh-what are you doing?” said a very flustered Sunggyu, but she made no effort to stop. She sucked the skin very lightly, and then when she bit-
Sunggyu pulled over to the side of the road.
Because who could concentrate with that happening.
21. And then there’s tongue
He had screamed so much, and there was nothing she could have done about it.
He was out of the hospital now, the first half was over. She and about twenty dozen rookies had all been there for him. When they all assisted him, she stepped out of the way and let the familiar people take over. But when the night came, they all were gone and it was just Soojung and Gyu.
There was no way she would let him stay alone. He needed help, and she would be the one to do it.
Maybe he knew and that was why he sent everyone away.
He was laying in bed now, Soojung back at her place beside him with a chair pulled up beside the bed. It was if the hospital had come home with them.
My angel, he had called her. His hand held hers tightly. Her cold hand brought him some relief even if he didn’t admit it. He joked every other moment, to which Soojung only gave a small smile in return. Spirit Magic tried to lessen the pain but with no sign of it working, she gave it up.
“Are you getting tired?”
“Are you?”
She could sleep next year. He needed rest and someone to watch over him.
“Soojung, it’s not healthy to stay up so late.”
“Nice try grandpa, but it was past your bedtime hours ago. Who do you think you’re talking to?”
It became quiet as the two stared at each other, breathing softly in time.
“Honey, come lay with your old man.”
This earned him a light, airy laugh and a nod. Soojung was very slow and careful with her movements to make sure she wouldn’t hurt him in any way. Her body settled down beside him, light as a feather, with her head coming down on the pillow beside his.
“Gosh, look at me. I’ve got such a pretty girl beside me, they’re gonna be so jealous.”
“I’m not much to flaunt. I’ve got hair as white as a ghost and cold skin to match.”
“I could warm you up with my love~”
She was about to swat at him but stopped and just shook her head, laughing quietly. He could be so corny, but it made him, him. His left hand grabbed hers and held it tightly, giving it a squeeze every now and then. She loved when he did that.
“I’ll take care of you, okay?”
“All you have to do is stay my angel.”
Their lips found each others. It was soft at first, the love and care seeping from every inch of their body. This kiss hadn’t been like any other others. Unsure at the first, hurriedly at the second, panicked at the hospital. Now it was just the two there and nothing to hold them back.
The kiss deepened as they tested the waters with each other. Soojung was hesitant all around because of the condition he was in, but with a squeeze of her hand, she knew it was ok.
That hand left hers to cup her cheek and hers did the same with her fingers twirling in the back of his hair. Their mouths opened more as tongues gently glided along bottom lips before meeting each other. There were very short moments to break for air, which Soojung hated this human form for. She hated even being less than an inch away from him for less than a second. Her body was against his side now, stopping herself from going any further. She was afraid-
She was afraid.
She was afraid of hurting him while in this fragile state, to which she knew he’d say, “oh no, it’s all fine!!” and just smile no matter how bad it was.
Soojung wasn’t going to forget, but that didn’t mean they couldn’t enjoy the small moment like this.
“I can’t wait for six weeks from now,” he said as she gave her hip a squeeze.
♆The worst kind of neighbor they could have, and how they deal with them
Woohyun’s a pretty tolerable guy but if there’s one thing he can’t absolutely take it’s people who don’t know how to turn their stereos down at 12 am. He works 2 jobs and would very much appreciate getting uninterrupted sleep. That and he lives with his grandma for christ’s sake. Is it so hard to show some respect for the elderly? Even if he doesn’t wake up, his grandma sure will and ask him to talk to the neighbors or call the police. And, if that goes doesn’t do the trick well it wouldn’t be safe to accept any food from him the next day.
♆ The worst kind of neighbor they could have, and how they deal with them
annoying loud neighbors who like to party. or the ones above him with the loud and obnoxious children. oh, those are the worst. especially when he’s trying to play on the keyboard in his room and all of a sudden, he hears loud footsteps followed by a child screaming. he feels like death at that moment. but he never does anything about it because he knows he won’t promise it. he could tell them he’ll cut off their tongues, but he knows he won’t mean it. sadly.
✂ How well they do yardwork (or blow up the lawnmower)
he doesn’t really have a lawn?? but if he did, he would do an exceptionally good job. few spots he’s missing here and there. but other than that, it’s acceptable!
