Putting up posters can be dangerous work. Guess who stepped onto a seat and directly bonked the crown of their head on a bus railing and gave herself her first mild concussion today?

Spent the weekend getting cuddled and ravished absolutely senseless so of course I had to get deliciously tipsy while cooking
(because I miss ex so much even when I don't immediately realize it),
but
oooouuugghhhh
I arrive at the new workplace tomorrow and,
fine,
yes, it's going to be fine,
but,
gosh,
what if I don't like it?
Or worse?
What if it's BORING.
I don't think I've ever lost all of my respect for a manager or supervisor this quickly. ::checks watch:: Two weeks!
That being said, I've got hours, income, and two months in Alaska before the tourist season ends and I get to move on (from the job. Still happy to be in the area). I'm not some entry level dishwasher or housekeeper, I'm here as a licensed and certified individual with a skill that they weren't going to get through the season without. I suppose the red flags were there before I even got on property. If I'd been a bit more opportunistic, I would have redirected myself to Anchorage or Fairbanks and made a 1-year commitment to their city bus service and flipped residencies and all that. I was definitely thinking about it and I am not sure if I regret ignoring my instincts, exactly.
I'm really hoping I get invited back at the end of the season so that I can tell her to shove it as I wave goodbye.
Getting fairly annoyed at my new manager. I realize I arrived in town in the middle of a once-in-100-years situation, but that's no excuse for scheduling me for a shift when I haven't even had a cursory introduction to the driver's seat of your 50 seat vehicle. Ma'am, I've never driven a Bluebird bus before; I realize it's not going to be dissimilar to anything I've driven before, but gods, you can't just have me start driving this thing blind. I sat on my hands and twiddled my thumbs for a week while I waited for everything to get back on track. You explicitly told me I couldn't shadow any shifts because the local union would have protested. No other self-respecting company would put me behind the wheel without at least 1 full shift shadowing the other driver. For fuck's sake, ma'am, get it together. You're supposed to be more competent than me.
The last two days of work absolutely wiped the floor with me. I cannot believe I am this bodily sore from sitting and driving all day. I woke up every 30 minutes for most of the night because I was being haunted by bus-sliding-into-traffic dreams. My car was buried nearly up to the door handles. I am very much looking forward to *not* living in a place with snow in the future.
