For the better part of 3 years I’ve been trying to figure out the electrical system of my truck for an electric fuel pump. Like the one the guy who I bought the truck from had given me. So in that time, the thought of my truck having a mechanical fuel pump never once even crossed my mind.
So after 3 years it took me 5 minutes to figure out the right sized socket, and less than 2 minutes to take the mechanical fuel pump out.
After getting the pump apart, the only thing wrong with it is that it’s missing its glass bowl, bowl stay clip, and has a torn diaphragm (the part that actually pumps the fuel). It also has a “farm fix” on what I assume is the outlet side. The person who “fixed” it welded on an pneumatic quick disconnect fitting. What ever works, works.
