LAST DAY OF CLASS! :( :) [04/24/17]
This day seems to be a mini Thesis Final Presentation. Prof Orozco, Sir Reygie and Ma’am Diola presented again their research topic in class. Bued River, Agno River and the risk assessment of heavy metal concentration to human were the main concepts in their report. It was great at medyo info overload hahaha. Thank you Sir Augie, Sir Christian and Sir Reygie <3
Back in the Room [04/17/17]
We had a group activity about modelling and presentation of data using excel. It includes making box plot and histogram which are tools that makes the presentation and interpretation of trends and results more easily. By the way, the group activity ended out as a take home exercise. Yahoo!
Fieldwork at UP lagoon [03/13/17]
It is our second fieldwork in the lagoon where we did water sampling. We measured water quality parameters like turbidity, pH, DO, temperature, TDS etc. using HORIBA. We tested the copper concentration of our water sample and measured three trials, 0.753ppm, 0.797ppm and 0.725ppm.
Water Quality Assessment of UP Lagoon [03/06/17]
It was our first outdoor activity! We used SVAP form to assess the quality of the water in UP Lagoon. It is a national protocol that gives an initial evaluation of the condition of streams and different habitats within. We in the group observed and rated the given parameters in the SVAP form and then passed in to Sir Orozco afterwards. (Sadly, we forgot to take a picture of our SVAP form :( )
Say cheese… [02/20/17]
Honestly, almost all of us crammed the printing of these posters like it’s already 1pm and different groups are still in the printing shop claiming for their posters (our class is at 1pm by the way HAHAHA). After the presentation, posters were made available for viewing until Friday that week in the ICE building to also inform other students about the qualities of the rivers in the Philippines.
Problems and Issues on Water Quality
Water is the most essential natural resources for human in order to survive. Unfortunately, as modernization and population increase continues quality of our water bodies were being sacrificed. And as humans, it is our responsibility to protect and save our nature, that’s the reason why I chose to enrol in this CE 197 elective class, plus cool profs at peer pressure na rin...Lol.
When the last tree has been cut down, the last fish caught, the last river poisoned, only then will we realize that one cannot eat money.
