Clearomizer users have more choices now then they ever have before. It seems like every week, a new player is entering the clearo market with its latest spin on the tried-and-true atomizer format. Find great deals on these at https://vapecrunch.com
Recently, Chinese manufacturer Bauway announced their CE8 clearomizer, which they said would use stainless steel mesh, rather than the fiber wick used in most other clearomizers. This was done, no doubt, to capitalize on the rising popularity of stainless steel mesh-based Genesis atomizers. Potentially, the use of stainless steel mesh in a clearomizer could give the best of both worlds: the flavor of a Genesis, with the ease and portability of a clearomizer.
When we received our Bauway CE8′s, we found their claims were true… to a point. While it’s true that stainless steel mesh is used in the construction of the CE8, it is not used exclusively. While the stainless steel mesh runs up the middle of the replaceable center tube of the clearo, it terminates in a rather traditional wick, presumably made of silica, around which the coil is wound. While this does minimize the amount of distance that juice has to travel across silica to get to the wick, it does not eliminate the silica completely. As a result, the CE8′s flavor is not really comparable to atomizers that use stainless steel mesh exclusively.
Many were disappointed to find that the CE8 had been built like this, and it’s easy to find reviews bashing the CE8 as a failure. However, taken on its own merits, without preconceptions of how it should have been built, we would mostly disagree with the assessment. While the CE8 does suffer from the same kind of flavor muting as traditional silica clearomizers, vapor production with our CE8s has been very good, and we have not experienced any of the leaking common to many other clearos. We have, however, found that the CE8 is a bit prone to dry hits when juice gets low, as it enters the coil chamber through holes drilled in the center tube. When juice drops below the level of those holes, the coil can get a little dry, particularly at higher voltage settings. Tilting the clearo does help with this to a degree, but drilling the holes farther down the coil tube probably could have eliminated it completely.
Other than the wick and coil assembly, the CE8 is a very traditional-looking clearomizer, not much different-looking than many others on the market. It has a similar filling method to many others, also, with the mouthpiece unscrewing to open the top of the clearo, into which juice can be easily poured or dripped. The CE8 has a capacity of approximately 2ml, perhaps somewhat less than other clearomizers of its size, and it is equipped with an eGo connector. Users of 510-based devices will need an adapter to use the Bauway CE8.
Bauway seems to be a bit more popular in Europe than in the states, and it can be difficult finding their products here. We found the CE8 selling at UK retailers for around £5, or just under US$8.00. This is slightly more expensive than products like the Kanger T3, but not by a wide margin.

Weekend Co-Op Update
Vape O’Clock Rook
The Chinese holidays are behind us for the moment, and co-op activity is starting to pick up. In addition, we’re seeing a large number of orders which have been stuck at manufacturers for months finally beginning to ship, which should make a lot of buyers happy as their long-awaited goods start arriving on their doorsteps this week.
New co-ops this week include one for the stainless-steel-based Bauway CE-8 clearomizer at nu-vapor, as well as one for the Ruigu version of the A7 dripping atomizer we reviewed quite favorably a short while ago. Also new at nu-vapor is a co-op for stainless steel rope, an increasingly popular material for wicks.
A couple new items from the Philippines also make appearances this week, including the Vape O’Clock Rook mechanical mod, and the Budz Workz Gamma Genesis-style atomizer, both available from CaliVaper-based group buys.
While no new Canadian co-ops made our list this week, several items are available for Canucks, from the always-popular Youde AGA-T2 and IGO-L, to the Innokin iTaste MVP and SVD mods.
