Because Lapis wanted to take control, do something of her own power. She loathes the crystals, why would she let them help her? She finally had someone she has power over after being trapped for so long.
eugh yeah i could see that but her attitude seems so flight oriented and she could escape once she got away from jasper instead of trapping herself again for what is going to be a loooong time
im not saying it was a horrible idea and it was still cool but
she says no and she can try to fly away while either jasper or the gems die and she wouldnt really care which side won
