When I saw the clip from Craig of the Creek, and I thought ‘What if Mason & her friends started up a band?’ Like father like daughter they say.

Cece and Blake went to prom together!

(a/n: dt ocs! blake has problems with her parents, cece is there for her. future fic where they live together)

“Sorry.” Blake says, out of the blue sometimes, which always clues Cece in to the fact that she’s having a bad day. There are good days- most of them are good days now, actually- but still, sometimes Blake apologizes just for daring to take up space in Cece’s life, space Cece had wanted her to fill.

She’ll touch her softly, usually on her forarm, then she’ll slide her hands down comfortingly to intertwine their fingers, “Did something happen?” She’ll ask this twice, once so Blake can automatically deny-

“Of course not.” She says evenly, meeting Cece’s eyes with a guileless smile.

“Did something happen?” And again, softer this time, so Blake can remember it’s okay to be truthful with her, and that her problems aren’t a burden. That she’s not a burden.

There’s a long pause, longer than there has been in a while, before Blake can find her words- she was exceptional with her speech, each word chosen carefully and confidently, sentences seemed to flow so easily when it was anything other than the truth. Now she treads cautiously, words stilted, “I... I keep thinking about my... my mom. I... called her today.”

Cece tightens her hold on Blakes hands, shifting so shes sitting up straight on their couch, giving Blake her undivided attention, “How did it go?”

Blake smiles brightly, but her voice cracks sharply when she announces, “She sent me to voice mail.”

There are no tears, Blake rarely ever cries even though Cece thinks it might be good for her to, but Cece hugs her anyway. She winds her arms around Blake’s body, drawing her close, running her hands through her hair and kissing her forehead and cradling her as closely as she can.

“I should have talked to you first.” Blake says insincerely, responding on autopilot so she can distance herself from the feelings rolling in her chest, and Cece takes a deep breath to remind herself Blake is still trying to learn how to cope properly.

“I would have wanted to be there for you.” Cece agrees softly and Blake comes back to herself at those words, her fingers clentching tighter in Cece’s t-shirt.

“Sorry.” Blake says, sincerely, “I love you.”

“I love you too.” Cece says, just as genuine.

I love Masons friends because just by looking at them you think Cece is the wild card but no it’s actually Blake “I learned to pick locks so I can break into abandoned buildings for alone time” Fowler and her cheerleader valedictorian get up throws everyone off
