Lucas caught him as a Budew in Route 204. 

It took forever for Cedar to evolve into a Roselia. Not because Cedar didn’t warm up to him, but because for some reason Lucas did a fair portion of his adventuring at night.

Cedar is one of the Pokemon that Lucas turns to whenever he dabbles in Contests. 

More specifically, the ‘Smart’ category is Cedar’s specialty.

He’s got a friendly rivalry going on with Kale.

If he had to pick three more to fill out a team of six, though...Dragalge, Drapion, and Venusaur. He's always sort of had an admiration for each one.
