Sora no Method: Mou Hitotsu no Negai ~ Noeru
Sora no Method Episode 17 to be released on YouTube on 11 October 2019, 10pm (JST), featuring a new character Carol voiced by Marika Kono. The last episode, Episode 13, aired in Fall 2014. No information is revealed about Episode 14 to 16.
So, Gochiusa ~Sing for You~ BD & Phantom Thief Lapin figure reviews are coming sometime soon, but meanwhile please watch this new absolutely FREE episode of Sora no Method (aka Celestial Method aka that one Hokkaido anime). Sure it has no subs but it won’t make sense anyway unless you’ve seen the original show 5 years ago. The animation (by Studio 3hz of Princess Principal and Flip Flappers fame) is so beautiful and the characters are so cute! And Noel’s voice actress is the same as Chino! Just watch it, ok?
Mossybunni’s Low Maintenance Anime List
I love anime, but sometimes I can’t find it in me to commit to a 200 episode series. Below are some of my favorite under 30 episode animes. Keep in mind special episodes and movies are not counted in episode count.
Girls Und Panzer (12 Episodes)
School girls and tank warfare, what more could you want? Girls Und Panzer tells the story of girls’ schools who train their students in the art of tank warfare, or sensha-do. Keep in mind all of this warfare takes place on carrier ships called Academy Ships. Friendship, teamwork and historically accurate tanks/battle tactics are main features of this series (my boyfriend commented on how well done the battle scenes were) as well as comedic moments. I should also mention I love badass girls/women in anime wielding weapons which was honestly the main reason I watched this series.
Celestial Method (13 Episodes)
I finished this series in two days because of how cute it was. Celestial Method centers around Nonoka Komiya and her return to the town she grew up in. Upon returning, she learns a mysterious saucer has appeared above the town. Add in themes of friendship, believing in wishes/dreams and the cute alien-like girl Noel, it’s easy to binge watch this anime.
The Devil is a Part-Timer! (13 Episodes)
Again, this series is very bingeable. The Devil is a Part-Timer places Satan in modern day Japan after he and another demon escape after being defeated in the land known as Ente Isla. Magic is not allowed in the human world, so they must learn to adapt. There is an overarching problem through the series, but I don’t want to give too much away. It sounds like a strange series, but it’s honestly very funny and has great fantasy elements woven throughout the real world setting. I’m also a sucker for any media that involves angels.
Your Lie in April (22 Episodes)
This.Series.Messed.Me.Up. Seriously. Probably the most emotionally taxing anime on this list, Your Lie in April centers on the relationship between piano prodigy Kosei Arima and violinist Kaori Miyazono. The classical music used throughout the series as well as the beautiful animation is what drew me in initially and the music anime genre was something completely new to me. The way real world topics are portrayed, such as friendship, parental relationships, dating, and general teenager problems, are captured so well. There is a huge plot detail I’m leaving out because, spoiler, but if you watch this, you will understand why this series emotionally derailed me.
The Seven Deadly Sins (24 Episodes)
I was debating on whether or not to include this series, as there have been whispers of a season 3 and the 4 episode filler season 2, but I decided to include it as season 2 doesn’t have anything to do with the 24 episode series.
The Seven Deadly Sins can best be described as Knights of the Round Table meets Dungeons & Dragons. The group of knights known as The Seven Deadly Sins have been deemed criminals and are trying to clear their names, there are kings, princesses, knights, and magic. It’s a very high fantasy inspired and I always recommend this series to people who are looking for a new anime to watch.
Tsukuyomi: Moon Phase (25 Episodes)
Tsukuyomi: Moon Phase follows freelance photographer Kouhei Morioka and his meeting of Hazuki, a young vampire girl. Hazuki attempts to make Kouhei her servant by feeding on his blood, but to no avail. The series then follows the pair and Kouhei’s attemptes to free Hazuki from the grips of elder vampires.
Chobits (26 Episodes)
Besides Sailor Moon and Tokyo Mew Mew, Chobits is an anime I credit for getting me into anime and manga in the first place. Chobits explores the relationship humans have with electronics and does so by creating a world where persocoms exist. Persocoms are specialized android devices made to look like humans. The series focuses on one particaular persocom, known as Chi, and the relationship she has with student Hideki Motosuwa. It’s a very interesting series and really does make one think about the role electronics/technology have in your everyday life.
Vampire Knight (26 Episodes)
Admittedly, I like the manga better (I love Matsuri Hino’s art style) but the adaptation of the first 10 volumes is still an enjoyable series. Vampire Knight takes place at Cross Academy, a special boarding school for humans and vampires. The series follows the age old human vs. vampire struggle as well as main character Yuki Cross as she tries to regain her childhood memories. And of course, there is romance. The music used in Vampire Knight is beautiful and really adds to the darker parts of the series. I kind of consider this my “guilty pleasure” series because yeah, vampires and romance are cheesy, but...I love vampires and romance.
