Jack had immediately felt ridiculous after saying it, his mind liked to wander to the weirdest places. Sometimes that meant he said pretty outlandish things like this.

when he'd offered to help eros with some combat training, he'd thought that maybe the other had some sort of knowledge or at least some basic experience. instead he was dealing with someone who'd either had very little or none at all. which meant he was constantly pointing out the things he was doing wrong. jace didn't mind helping eros out but if he wasn't going to put any effort into it he wasn't about to keep training him. maybe he should talk to alec about finding SOMEONE ELSE who could deal with this. or at least someone else who had a bit more patience than he did. he'd trained clary and helped her get to where she'd been before she was stripped of her marks. he didn't think he could do that again.

It wasn’t directed at him, luckily, but he knew theothers who had dragged him in would be punished. Which left him theability to have fun with their prisoner. Jace knew they could doplenty with him and the Clave couldn’t do a damn thing other thanlook down on them for hurting a mundane. It was perfect actually. “Itdoesn’t matter what you say or do. You won’t live long enough for itto do any damage.”

Then again, Jace knew if he did that he'd have a lot ofquestions to answer thanks to his parabatai being head of theInstitute.
