Does Celestial AU Raph overlook all the stars / suns at the centre of all the solar systems, or is it just our solar system's sun?
Also, since Donnie specifically personifies Earth's moon, if it were to somehow get wrecked or smth, would that kill him? Or would it be like with Leo, how it affects him but not in a deadly way? And would this apply to Raph?

this might be a bit long, but it's something i care about with them ahah So they all have their similarities and differences, tho overall I kinda put Donnie and Raph in one group, with Leo and Mikey in another. The way in that they're all similar is that they are all overlookers and personifications. Protectors for what they represent -w-
Raph and Donnie personify specific terrestrials -- Raph personifies Earth's sun specifically, while Donnie personifies Earth's moon. They are straight up the sun and the moon¹, without much of the nuanced bs that Leo and Mikey have (that ill go into). However, along with that, they also overlook all of the suns and moons out there. They personify Earth's sun and moon, but they overlook, care for, and protect all the suns and moons that exist out there in the universe.
Mikey and Leo work slightly different. While Donnie and Raph personify Earth' sun and moon (while protecting all the others), Leo and Mikey personify all stars and comets that are out in the universe. Every comet, you can point at and go "It's Mikey!," same for Leo and the stars. Their catch though is that each individual star and comet has their own type of a life and soul as well that they share with Mikey and Leo². I go into a looot more detail about that in my FAQ post, which i just updated ahah

¹ "they are straight up the sun and the moon," the sun and the moon as they are like.. still exists as the regular ass sun and moon, but Raph and Donnie also exist as their personifications, alongside the ball of gas and the big rock. Like, if something hit the moon, Don would feel it and it would hurt him. Earth's moon doesn't have a separate soul, Donnie is that soul, same for Raph and the Sun -- so to answer that question, yes, if something impacted the moon enough to where it would be destroyed, it would kill Donnie as well. With Leo, it only slightly effects him because the universe is so dense with stars. If every star were to be destroyed at some point, then that's the point where Leo would die. But, that's kinda impossible, so Leo just deals with his chronic pain of his kids dying all the time 😭
² "Do all the other suns and moons out there also have their own souls (like the stars and comets)?" -- Well, the suns do, as the suns also classify as stars. Moons tho.. Uhhh, not in the same way I feel. I feel their life is more muted compared to the other terrestrials, like how a tree is alive and healthy, but no real feelings are in there. The important thing to note is that Raph and Donnie are NOT intertwined to other stars and moons by the soul, the way Leo and Mikey are. They simply overlook and protect uwu
I saw your ghost moon post and it just made me think that man… solar eclipses must drive Raph INSANE. Not only is Donnie awake when he should be resting, but it’s also go “I’m not touching you” Lilo & Stitch annoying siblings vibes.
I dont remember if i ever directly mentioned it, BUT for a solar eclipse I imagine that it's Raph giving Donnie a hug from behind in one way or another — a lunar eclipse is more in like with what you mentioned, I imagine donnie being a lil piece of shit and hiding behind the earth, "catch me if you can bitch," type of vibe BAHAHAHA
Ive been thinking about comet! Mikey (since he’s my favorite turtle) and I can’t get the idea that asteroid showers are just Mikey showing off the cool tricks he’s learned to his brothers (he will wake Raph up just to show off) he’s just a goofy little zippy boy

This is an FAQ for my celestial AU!. Even more detailed information and questions can be found in the "#celestialFAQ" tag on my blog, but here are the things I tend to explain the most often.
What is the Celestial AU?
It's a ROTTMNT au where Leo, Donnie, Raph, and Mikey embody celetial bodies. Leo embodies the stars, Donnie embodies the Moon, Raph embodies the Sun, and Mikey embodies the comets.
Can you tell us more about what they are?
Leo is the stars — he overlooks the stars as a guardian figure. While he thinks of his stars as his own who he protects and loves, he also embodies all of them. He IS the stars, they are one in the same.
The same goes for Mikey and his comets. Although, while Mikey specifically embodies and overlooks the comets, he also overlooks all them zippy lil' things in the galaxy [meteors, asteroids, etc.]
Donnie and Raph are a little different — Donnie specifically ONLY embodies Earth's moon, and is the overlooker of all the other moons in the universe. The same goes for Raph and Earth's Sun.

What is Star!Leo's relationship with the stars?
Leo is the personification of all of the stars in the universe. He is all of them. When pointing at a star, you can interpret that single star as Leo. Or, you can also interpret the stars as a whole as Leo. It’s all the same to him.
BUT along with that, there's also a special relationship that lies there — each star, individually, has their own soul as well. When looking at an individual star, that star has its own love that it holds, its own feelings, its own life. The stars look to Leo as their guardian figure, that which they love the most. Leo feels similarly to the stars — he loves each star very much individually, almost as if they’re his children (best friends, siblings -- whatever conventional title you wanna put on this unconventional relationship) who he is protecting. He and the stars love each other more than anything.
Even though he and the stars have their own feelings, in a sense, they both do share the same soul as well. As I said, Leo is the personification of the stars, he is all of them, just like how Donnie is the moon, or Raph is the sun. But, he and the stars are intertwined at the core and being, sharing their existence together. Leo and the stars are not separate in any way at all — he is they, and they are he. They are one in the same.
Now, how can the idea that Leo looks at the stars like they're his children, AND the idea that Leo is just straight up the personification of the stars (him being all of the stars) both be true at the same time? Ah — no real answer there. It just kind of is, and it's more of a feeling that I myself have. That's just the way that I personally feel Leo's relationship with the stars is, even if I'm never able to describe it quite perfectly, and even if it's confusing to everyone else. The best I can say is that it’s an inhuman relationship, with a lot of love that’s shared between them. All I could hope for is that maybe someone will understand, and I know I have some lovely friends that understand fully about this -w-. I think this is just about the most important thing about this AU to me, which is why I'm so passionate about trying to describe it ahah.
ALL of this goes for Comet!Mikey as well. He embodies and overlooks all the comets in this same way, BUT he has the additional job of overlooking all the lil zippy things out there in the galaxy.
Are there any other characters in this AU [Splinter, April, Drax, Krang, etc]?
[As of writing this] The only other characters in this AU are April [an astronaut who works for NASA / an aspiring astronaut], and S.H.E.L.D.O.N. [a robot made of lost junk and lost space tech that Donnie found]. I do not plan for there to be any other characters in this au, as I mainly want to draw and focus on the turtles.
There have been lots of fun headcanons in the askbox about who else could be in the au and what they would embody, and I think that's great! I love all the fanart and creativity everyone is doing for this AU, I will never be mad at exploring fun ideas [I've even doodled some of these ideas for fun] — as for what is "canon" in the AU though, at the moment I'm going to keep it as the turtles, April, and S.H.E.L.D.O.N.
What's the lore behind this AU?
There is no real lore behind this AU, just a bunch of fun ideas in a fun concept. Lots of other people have had fun coming up with their own lore and ideas for this AU, and once again, I think that's great! There's so many ideas other people came up with that I love — but again, in terms of "canon" and what I'm willing to draw, there's no legitimate lore for this AU.
The Sun is also a star. Does that mean Sun!Raph has a special relation to Star!Leo in some way?
Yes! Leo and Raph have a very strong special connection in this AU because of this.
Do the celestials control what they embody?
Control isn't really the right word — say for Star!Leo, for example, he's more of a guardian figure to the stars. "Control" implies that the stars have no autonomy of their own whatsoever, but that's not exactly true. They have their own little life to them that Leo can understand since the stars and Leo are the same thing.
What are Moon!Donnie's alternate phases?
Moon!Donnie's alternate phases are the Blood Moon, Harvest Moon, and Blue Moon. Moon!Donnie's design also changes some depending on the phase of the Moon [eg. During the Full Moon phase, Donnie has no shadow up his arms and legs. During the New Moon phase, Donnie is all encompassed in shadow].
Is there any more info about these phases?
During Donnie's Blood Moon phase, he tends to be a little more mischievous and violent. He's ready to kill, no questions asked.
During his Blue Moon phase, he's a little sadder than usual. He's not breaking down every minute or endlessly sobbing — he's more just a little blue (heh) and the unending river of tears just comes with the phase. He just needs some cuddles and comfort during this time <3
Harvest Moon Donnie is a happy lil guy! He's a little chipper and cuddly during this time, hapoy to help and talk with his brothers on end.
These phases don't COMPLETELY change his personality — he still the same Donnie, but just with little changes to his overall mood.
There are many more types/names for the Moon [Snow Moon, Worm Moon, Flower Moon, etc.] — will you be drawing those as designs for Moon!Donnie as well?
While I think I may sketch out some of them for fun, in terms of "canon" to the AU, I want to keep it limited to what I listed above in the previous question.
Are there any alternate versions of the other celestials?
Sun!Raph gets sun flares when he's upset, and I have a Nova!Leo design in the works. I haven't thought of any alternate versions for Comet!Mikey, but I don't think he needs one, haha.
What happens during an eclipse?
During a solar eclipse, Raph gives Donnie a hug from behind. During a lunar eclipse, I like to imagine that Donnie is hiding behind the earth because he ticked Raph off.
Can Star!Leo feel it when any stars die?
Yes, he does. I explained in much more detail in the "#celestialFAQ" tag, but when his stars die, it hurts him some emotionally and physically.
Whenever the Sun [Raph] would explode in the future, Star!Leo will be out of commission for a while because of how much it would hurt him.
Do the celestial turtles still have their weapons like the canon turtles?
Yes they do — Star!Leo has katanas made of constellations, Moon!Donnie has his staff made of shadow, Sun!Raph's fists fire up, and Comet!Mikey's comets and meteors spin around him and he can shoot them where he pleased.
Is this AU meant to be accurate about how astrology and space works?
Not at all — there are a lot of inaccuracies in this AU. But what's the fun of making an au like this if I have to keep everything pinpoint accurate! This AU is for good, fun vibes, and it's ok if not everything matches up with exactly how space works.
Can I make fanart/fanfics for this au?

Moon!Donnie and Star!Leo hang out the most out of everyone. Thoes boys party all night, lighting up the night sky and watching the earth beneath them. But when dawn comes, Sun!Raph just DRAGS their asses back to bed, gotta give em a stern talking to every night XD
Leo has a very strong connection to the stars, he is the stars. If anyone reading remembers Rosalina's relationship with the Lumas in Super Mario Galaxy, that's essentially the same vibe as how Leo feels towards his own stars. They're essentially his children [save for Raph, he's special lol].
Although with such a strong connection comes some pain. Trillions and trillions of his stars are exploding every second. After an eternity, he's been able to cope, it's what happens in their life cycle, but it still hurts him.
I just posted a drawing abt this, but the shadows on donnie's arms shift with the moons phases! [This isn't WAY important when it comes to me just making the pretty drawings i wanna make tho. His base character design has the shadows abt 3/4 of the way up his arms and legs, even if I draw the moon behind him in a different phase lol]
Donnie's also got some alters, such as the Blood Moon, the Harvest Moon, etc.
Leo likes to put on a pretty show during the night for everyone down on earth, making sure his stars are extra sparkly and bright 😌

Hmmm, I wouldn't say it's so much control, more of he's the overlooker of all the moons 🤔 he is the representation of earth's moon—he and earth's moon are one in the same—and he looks over the other moons in the galaxy in a motherly way I'd say.

As far as lore goes for the celestial au, I don't think there'll be lore in it 🤔 I made the au bc I really like drawing moons and space and stars [re: literally all my art ever dhsjsj] and I kind of used the au as an excuse to draw even more moons and stars XD
The au is more just something that makes me happy to draw, BUT ALSO the possible character dynamics. Like for example, I feel like Don and Leo party a lot durin the night. But when dawn comes around, that's Raph is DRAGGING their asses to bed XD.
Dumb question but what would Moon!Donnie and Star!Leo's reaction to an extremely cloudy/rainy night be? Would they be annoyed or something?
I associate moon!donnie with clouds actually, so he really likes them! I feel like leo would be annoyed by them (and light pollution) bc he enjoys giving pretty star shows to the ppl on earth, so he's like "mOVE, MY STARS WON'T BE SPARKLY FOREVER YN" XD
