Ch 1. Sun, Ch 2. Moon
(My ass has been sitting on this design for like 2 months and this is the MAIN REASON why I didn't post this chapter for so long e3e)
Summary:
Always on death's door, disappearing at the last minute, transported light-years away.
...
How could you have guessed someone was behind it the whole time?
vvv Fic & Bonus silly below!!! vvv
Tch! Baffling, really.
Must things always go awry?
After all, you are but a simple star that has gone supernova. Nothing too special in the grand scheme of things. It's not as if you were the first of your kind. You aren't even that particularly interesting…
Or so he originally thought.
Yet your departure has completely destroyed one while your arrival escalated another.
The absurd part is, you didn't do a single thing wrong!
You followed his directions perfectly in fact.
You kept anxieties to a minimum, stalled for more time keeping neutral, and ultimately found comfort in what you have, content with staying stagnant.
Even if you craved for more, you made peace with settling. Just as you were advised to.
Unfortunately, those around you did not.
Annoyance seared through his temple just thinking about the buffoons that surrounded you.
One was ignorant and the other was obsessive. Such things are out of your control. These other celestials continuously prove to be an issue.
So of course his fury isn't aimed at you. Why would it ever?
Twice now you've almost imploded, nearly morphed into a black hole with an aggressive transformation, awakening the all encompassing desire to devour everything in your path that isn't destroyed by your initial awakening.
It drives him to wretch thinking about it.
The possibility that every part of you that makes you a wonder is just, bam , gone in an instant. The pain you’d feel, the unbearable heat as you boil from the inside out – until there is no outside left.
Did you suffer from that torment, even for a second? Could you feel the tears at your sanity, tiny holes left in its wake as you settled from your near demise?
Such a similar memory had seared itself into his being, grueling and unforgiving, everlasting. It's one he never wishes upon you.
Naturally, at each instance a jolt of adrenaline pumped through his system at the massive shift in density and gravity in your orbit. The clock was instantly ticking with only milliseconds on the line, fear would grip him over being a second too late to save you…
But he has saved you, several times in fact. Now you're safer than you have ever been.
The first time was only an instance, your near implosion leading to the fulfillment of a promise he made and kept.
His personal hobby was to protect the destruction of his precious planets, and unfortunately, your mere existence threatened that.
He visited you in a dream, allowing specks of himself to be absorbed by your magnetism to grant the connection. He had warned you of your fate and declared your banishment from the planet, with or without your compliance. Your pleas and surprising stability of form was enough to convince him to extend your stay; however, in return you will accept your fate and follow him without fuss.
Why did he comply? Well… it would’ve been beneficial for all if you were to stay satiated…
He had granted more time to other supernovas of the past, though there was always a limit, a couple of days at most. He was skeptical of such leeway, but something about you made him concede.
Perhaps it was the spark in your eyes. The two that refused to morph or disappear.
…
He knew his duties made him a sap for the living, even after such isolation…
Peering at life on every planet was his favorite pastime. Fantasies of the heart are always the stories he fancies most.
And your little story was one he hoped to see come to a bittersweet conclusion.
It was then decided. You could stay home, up till the very last moment; before you would start to absorb the world around you.
You would get your prolonged time, and he would have a still fully intact planet with something fun to watch.
And watch he did. Perhaps even labeled as an unseen player.
Nearly every night, he would visit you in your dreams, coaching you on how to prolong the inevitable.
He'd give you feedback on your day to day, answer your many silly little questions with riddles of his own, and from time to time, he indulged in your sleeping world; parading around in a form once familiar yet no longer his, draped in your people's customary attire, like some sort of average mortal star by your side.
Visits weren't for leisure at first, but he quickly figured it's not wrong to have a little fun now and then.
If you weren't entirely lucid as he sauntered around in your dreams, he could almost pretend he has always lived as a star that’s known you for eons.
Though that never felt quite right, somehow always ending each dream with a reminder of who– what he is.
A winding whirlpool of clouds descending from the sky. Stringy candies pulled apart mercilessly. The all encompassing crackle of built energy contained in a storm.
He is but a prisoner to fate, and you, a walking, ticking time bomb.
Despite how often he reminds himself to keep distant, failure whispering at every corner begging him to intervene, he was rather proud of how far you've gotten.
You were receptive and had faith to follow his words completely. Not a single kick, scream, or sense of utter defeat from you.
It was refreshing to interact with someone so driven – Supernovas tend to always turn into a ball of anxiety, needing to be forced to his whims for the sake of the planet they resided on.
Regardless of the lovesick fool at your heels being a monkey wrench, he thought that perhaps you'd be able to spend many years home as a supernova. He even found himself rooting for you to stay.
Not once did you have an implosion scare since your initial transformation; which admittedly, did endear him slightly to your molten friend after he had calmed you. That Sun made it so he didn't have to intervene without warning, allowing him to visit you in your dreams and make that deal.
But sadly, that endearment vanished rather fast, as the fool was greedy. Unsatisfied with just your presence no longer.
How could one not know the unstable essence of a Supernova!?
How dare he press it so suddenly?!
The pain he would have unleashed upon you and the world was far too great for something as barbaric as lust.
So, as soon as that blasted idiot pressed his lips against yours, he whisked you away. Pulling you between atoms and time into his palm just for a moment, watching as your breathing evened out and the form of your body stabilized from the weightlessness of his prison.
He savored the form he felt in his massive hand. So small and light, yet still there.
Real.
Before you could have even opened your eyes, he pushed between space and planted you on an empty golden road, retreating to his home between time.
It’s been a lifetime since he's held anyone like that, let alone for so long… The spark of true contact made every particle of his loose body shiver; electric and unstable.
Nonetheless, your unfortunate departure led to an unwanted arrival.
The second scare happened due to a mere coincidence.
He simply landed you at a safe zone in the middle of space, a location that made it easier for your matter to keep itself controlled. Here you could actually compact into a neutron star with enough time.
This is where you should have been from the start.
He would have never guessed that another cretin would dare fall for you. Let alone obsess over you.
Yet somehow, that imbecile wasn't the only obstacle sacrificing your peace of mind. The useless hierarchy of the inhabitants and the ceaseless hunger of the black holes would have caused you stress and pain regardless.
It was a losing situation.
He couldn't help but feel pitiful, something deep inside him perturbed.
He didn't pay as much attention to the residents of space, more inclined to watching the ever-changing life on planets. He must have missed the growth of such a passive aggressive society, and he plopped you right in the middle of it.
Surely, he couldn't just leave you there alone…
Despite his deal being fulfilled, enough justification to abandon all the previous supernovas he's “saved”, he decided to stick with you – uncaring of it cutting into his usual planet watching time.
You were thrown into an unfair situation, and despite the sudden change to your entire life, you didn't struggle against him. Didn't blame him.
It was if you trusted him.
You seemed to accept the relocation well. You knew the reason for it for a long time after all.
He knew what actually made you freeze was the glares.
You were back to being the odd one out, the situation only worse with their preconceptions.
Yet somehow, despite it all, you were able to break from all of your worries, attaching yourself to the distractions of the world around you instead.
It was unfair how easily you can let go.
He did not like the hybrid that became your companion, but he couldn't advise you to be rid of him when he seemed to be the only ally you could acquire for light-years.
He could see the issue from miles away; that wanderer had latched himself onto you and would always hunger for more.
It shocked him slightly to see the obsessive thing be so content with its routine touches and daydreaming, almost hesitant to do even that, though it's not as if you were blind to his affections.
You were just always so good with staying in line despite any temptations. He was content with satisfied purrs at your further compliance; he made sure to praise you so through his continued dream visits.
After all, it is good to keep your wits about you and your confidence sure in such a place.
Be aware of your surroundings, no matter what, yet stay calm. Allow yourself to grow content with what you have.
Of course, it became his new personal duty to ensure that. It's his fault you're stuck in such a mess. He can only hope that the normalcy of your dreams together will be a comfort; that is his apology to you.
Be content with your new normal, and all will be well.
And yet…
Perhaps you would have been better off without that deranged Moon.
Sure you would have been alone and constantly surrounded by enemies, but he could always trust you to find the best solution for yourself. Maybe even fix up the strange society with your different perspective.
If you ever needed company, advice, normalcy, he would have always been there for you with a smile and a petri dish of your favorite treats. Controlling your dreams we're not hard at all.
Besides, the black holes wouldn't have found you when they were looking for the hybrid.
At least without him you wouldn't have ever jumped off a ledge.
Like how that
MANGEY
no good
MUTT did.
TERRIFIED you to the point of near immediate implosion.
The SCREAMS that tore from your throat tore at his mind. He could practically sense how the magma boiled within you, essence scorching hot against his palm.
That IMBECILE thought he LOVED YOU?
That freak could believe he's been strung along with the stars in the sky for all he cares.
Let his delusions keep him company until the antimatter of his own body eats him from the inside out.
Due to that foolish Moon, you were trembling once again in his grasp, inside the wormhole where no one else may reach you.
It was as if fate wanted to test him. To tease how easily you'd disappear. Death was your mark.
As your breathing slowly evened out, he thought about what would be the best course of action.
Once is an instance, twice is a coincidence, and a third..?
…
He couldn't allow this to become a pattern.
He's seen it many times, once skeptical, but resolved into a firm believer of the rule of threes.
You don't deserve to endure such a demise. Over and over again. Starting with nothing, climbing slowly, finding your peace, only to be brought down by someone else's hand.
So he settled it. You will not be dropped into any other locations without warning.
Tormented by others’ selfish wants, destroying your life without a single care for your needs.
