A huge conflict in his mind is rooted in happiness. At his best, even something like the taste of fresh water can soothe him. At his worst, he feels the need to take even that away from himself. He enjoys little moments, but as soon as he catches himself enjoying anything (heavens forbid!), he tends to envelope himself in melancholy. He doesn’t feel he has the right to feel pure pleasure– yet, as a living creature, he does so anyway. Unfortunately for his mindset, he appreciates a great many things in life, and so he has more good times than his worst moments would accept.
