“ you’re a princess too? ” she’d met a queen, a prince, but never a land princess. she glows with the light of all of the stars, and ariel seizes the other girl’s hands in her own. she’s silver, she rings like a bell, pretty chimes that float through the air and tickle the soft crevices of her ribs. they’re at a ball, near the end of the night, ariel’s shoes have been gone, for a long, long time, and there’s scarcely anyone left in the room besides the two of them. it feels like a story. “ where? i- i mean … where are you from? i’m from the sea! ”
