So I have a theory that the Cell juniors can grow up, like Gero may have meant Cell to be the progenitor of a "perfect species" or whatever, and Cell may be aware of this and therefore he created the Juniors without a tail in order to prevent them from growing and becoming his own rivals?

The more "cute" theory is that Cell and the Juniors are like some species of birds and insects where the parent feeds the young already partially digested food, because their 1) the tale digests the food, 2) their intestine only absorbs the digested goop from the tale. The Juniors have no tail, so technically they'd rely on the parent for feeding.

But being *perfect*, they can technically go without food and only run on ki (and maybe liquid food because why not), but at the cost of an absent/much much slower growth.

Besides the obvious physical differences, what would you say is the difference between the Cell Juniors and Cell and Butterflies’a offspring? Who would you say is stronger?

If I had to name one MAJOR difference, I would say the Butterfly/Cell kids actually know how to be, well...kids!! They're playful and curious and loving, whereas I think the Cell Jrs. are more just like tiny, more chaotic versions of their father.

They're bred for violence and very little else, whereas Butterfly's babies inherited some of their mother's gentle nature and also were raised like real children, not weapons.

Do you have any thoughts about the DBS manga 4 bonus pages that show the Cell Jrs on 17s island?

I haven't read any of the DBS manga, but I have seen the pages. It just seems kind of goofy to me.

My understanding was that this was just a scene to show what Goten and Trunks were doing while they were keeping an eye on 17's park during the Tournament of Power. And there wasn't a detailed explanation for how the Cell Jr's got there, aside from "they've just been here for years, lol."

Okay, I just looked it up, and 17 said he "tamed" them so they wouldn't attack anybody, but they're just as strong as the original Cell Juniors, which means they're still incredibly dangerous. Also, the narration in the story suggests that this set of Juniors might be the original seven, each having regenerated from their own nuclei after Gohan destroyed their bodies at the Cell Games.

Which... I guess that could work, but it seems kind of ridiculous that these things grew back and fled to Monster Island and fought 17 and nobody sensed their energy. Maybe the Cell Juniors were gunshy after Gohan one-shotted them all, so it didn't take much effort by 17 to tame them. Maybe they only sought out 17 because they didn't know what to do without Cell, and 17 was at least a part of Cell, so they see him as a natural authority figure.

But I feel like using the Cell Juniors this way is a missed opportunity. This could open up a whole other saga. If they're the original Cell Juniors, that raises some disturbing possibilities. If they're all-new Cell Juniors, then who made them? And how? And why?

This isn't a hypothetical scenario either. Android 13, Super 17, Majin 21, the bad guys in the new DBS: Super Hero movie-- all of these are built on the idea of remnants of Dr. Gero's original revenge scheme coming back to haunt the Earth. Hell, Cell himself kind of fits into that scheme. There's a lot you could do with a set of Cell Juniors still running around. Even if their origins are never explored, some new villain could exploit them for some nefarious purpose.
