Deportivo anon here again, that's an interesting signing for Celtic. They have Fran Alonso, who used to manage Lewes as was involved in coaching at some men's clubs, as their manager so maybe he's looking at Spanish talent? Celtic to my knowledge are attempting to grow their women's team more and give them better support. They play in Kilbride which isn't the best but they have played matches often-ish at Celtic Park (sorry I should say Paradise, LMFAO) SWPL play 3 rounds of fixtures as well.
Yes I did know about their Spanish coach so I guess it makes the connection with Spanish players easier, same as there was an influx on spanish players when Pedro Losa was Arsenal’s coach (I believe there’s only one spanish player in the wsl at the moment and that’s also with a team that has a spanish coach). Anita clearly needed an out so this would probably be one of the easiest moves for her outside of Spain.
Celtic came third in the league last year with the same number of points just difference in goals with Hibernian, it’s Glasgow City who still seam a bit unreachable. But as you said this should be a sign of how they want to take the women’s side more seriously and fight for that top spot.
Thanks for the info on streams too, looks like they’ll be steaming the Celtic v Glasgow City one on BBC Alba which will be a great way to start the season later on this month and see just how much of a threat Celtic is going to be able to pose to the long standing champions!
