Okay so this is gonna be long and also cw for talk of unhealthy gay relationships
Asher and Grant have a very... interesting dynamic (for lack of better words to express how I feel about it) of the former being 28 and the latter being. you know. 55? and an extremely notable high-power authority figure? The age difference doesn’t necessarily have to be bad (consenting adults and everything), but the fact that it was specifically stated that Asher was practically not given a choice with joining the Camerata due to his relationship with Grant, as well as the obvious power difference between the two in their lives, gives me reason to think there could be a lot of power balance issues that could result in an unhealthy relationship that nobody ever acknowledges (from what I’ve seen, at least. Haven’t been here too long).
I’m struggling to put it all into words right now but my friends and I talk about it constantly and it’s a shame that Supergiant only wrote that they were married and either didn’t take the chance to explain clearer that the power imbalance was an issue or weren’t able to do so with their formula of writing character backgrounds.
If that makes sense? I might edit this to put my thoughts on record clearer.
