We knew that Portland was going to be a great food city, but we didn’t expect to have some of the best meals we’ve ever had…in Maine.
From the top, the brown butter lobster roll and the fatty tuna at Eventide. In our four day trip, we went twice.
After gorging in Portland, we made our way up to Camden, for some lakeside hiking (and to burn off the aforementioned lobster roll.)
After which point…we were ready for our next meal. Enter: Long Grain. Unbeknownst to us, Camden, ME was secretly housing one of the best Thai restaurants on the East Cost…and maybe even the country. Needless to say, we ordered one of everything:
Finally, no Portland eating vacation would be complete without a trip to Central Provisions, where we ordered upwards of a dozen small plates.
We probably should’ve taken a few more pictures but we were seated at the chef’s table so we had to play it cool with the food photography. Not pictured but nevertheless consumed: a crispy pork belly, a salad of edible flowers and crispy eggplant, a fatty tuna appetizer, a pretty awesome corn-and-caviar dish, and 2 bottles of Rioja.
Eat: Central Provisions for a casual but adventurous dining experience, Eventide for fresh seafood, Duckfat for a gluttonous brunch, and Fore Street for fine dining.
Drink: Portland Hunt & Alpine Club and Tandem Coffee Roasters
Sleep: The Danforth Inn is a beautiful old property turned B&B with a free gourmet breakfast. Just a few steps away from some of the great restaurants in the city. Highly recommended.
