Marry Me A Little-as performed by John Barrowman

"Good day."

Arrival: On-Time (con't)
ceo-mjnair wingcommanderarthurshappey John ran in after Arthur, only to find Martin in the midst of a panic attack and yes, his water had indeed broken. He stayed behind, knowing he wouldn't do a better job of calming Martin than his own boyfriend or mother-in-law. "Martin, you need to listen to Carolyn and Arthur, all right? You have to calm down, high blood pressure could put the baby in distress. You need to breathe," he instructed in a soft but sincere tone. John pulled up his bag of supplies and set it in a chair, opening it and pulling out a fresh pair of gloves. "Guys, when he settles down I'm going to check him and see how things are going." Martin wheezed his breaths, and he locked his eyes on Arthur's worried ones, and his hand shook in his boyfriend's grasp. He focused on Carolyn's assurances and swallowed thickly, whining in his throat. No no no, that wasn't true, he was going to mess up, he wouldn't be good enough just like always-- no, he needed not to think that way. No. She was right; they would work it out. Winnie would be happy and healthy, and he and Arthur would make great parents, and Carolyn would help, and Sherlock and John would help, and Douglas, too. He couldn't afford to be worrying right now anyway. Thank god for Carolyn's words grounding him, or he would have been an absolute mess. Martin blew several breaths into Arthur's neck before he pulled back and leaned against the pillows, holding his stomach with his free hand. "J-j-just-- just do it," he told John, his voice still shaky from the attack. He sent Arthur and Carolyn thankful looks, mouthing a breathy thank you to both of them, and squeezed Arthur's fingers as he contracted again, puffing out his breaths in that ridiculous pattern. "Good man," John praised, offering Martin a smile. "Good, breathe just like that. He climbed up on the bed and situated Martin's legs into a spread, knees-bent position, and waited for the contraction to relent, watching the beads of sweat run down the man's temples, dampening his hair. "You're doing really well, Martin. It won't be much longer. I think you'll be transitioning soon; you'll know when that's happening. The baby's head will become engaged and you'll feel a lot of pressure and want to push, but you mustn't, I'll tell you when it's okay to do so." At Martin's ready, John slipped two of his fingers into the pilot's entrance, causing a light hiss from him. "Blow out a breath, relax. Good, good..." He explored for a few more seconds before withdrawing, giving a nod. "You're feeling loose, and all that fluid's got you slick, so it'll be easier for the little one to make its way out. Start thinking about how and where you want to be." John cleared his throat and glanced to Carolyn. "Is there anything else you're wanting me to do, Ms. Knapp-Shappey? Do some chanting to the fertility gods? Sing a sacred hymn? Or am I doing my job like a proper doctor with eighteen years of training and experience with emergency situations and trauma in Afghanistan, as well as my original area of focus in medicine being paediatrics?" He tried with raised eyebrows.
