@ceopotts said “You carry my heart with you.”
“Good,” said Tony. “It’s the only one I’ve got. And I really hate sharing. Don’t think I’ll be giving it back.” He landed in front of her, the ground vibrating under the pressure of Iron Man’s boots, and the faceplate lifting up to reveal his grin. The suit continued to disassemble around him, plate by plate dissolving into one one another, while the light in the center of his chest flickered--proof that, no matter what he said to the contrary, Tony Stark still had a heart, and that was only thanks to Pepper’s forethought. As the last of the Iron Man suit collapsed into his briefcase, he grabbed the fabric, business suit off the back of the office door and began to quickly change while outside, they could hear the endless snapping of pictures and shouts of reporters berating poor Happy for stalling. “Still sure you want to do this? It’s not too late to fly out the back and head to Paris. I know a great place we could go to lunch. Can have the plane ready before you can say ‘Everybody go home.’“
Tony had no problem telling the press about their relationship--he’d been wanting to shout it from the rooftops from the very first time they kissed, specifically the rooftop they’d been on the first time they’d kissed--but it was Pepper that was going to face the fallout. There would, of course, be those who said she only got her job by sleeping with the boss--though they’d said that anyway. This would just be more fuel to the fire.
