honestly i feel like a lot of the conflict about whether characters are good people (like if they're abusers or whatever) can be solved by asking if that character's actions move the narrative forward. If yes, i dont think the morals of their in-universe actions really matter that much. while the portrayal of those actions by people external to the fictional works they take place in do matter and should be questioned, i feel that in-universe abuse and murder and whatnot arent really that big of a deal as long as they advance the narrative. this is fiction, not reality, and the point is to be entertained
