I’m steadily working on a new chapter of this since it’s been forever and I’m very sorry about that. Life is incredibly busy right now and in the foreseeable future. So I thought while I’m working on making Maid Marion’s Chastity Belt from Men in Tights today with my best friend that I’d release a preview of the new chapter if everyone wants it. It’ll be up fairly shortly as in the next twenty minutes or so and I’ll pull this down. I hope you enjoy!
This part is rated T and is only a portion of the new chapter. I thought I'd have it done by now so apologies on that. I have been very busy/very tired. But I hope you all enjoy and please let me know if you like it! ~ Scarlette
Emma frowned as she studied her pet in the rearview mirror. The girl was curled in on herself, her head pillowed by her arms. She took a breath and released it slowly before she spoke. “I’m sorry little one.”
Regina didn’t say a word and the blonde frowned, noting the slight shake of her shoulders. She knew she was crying but there was nothing she could do in while they were driving along the broken streets.
She turned her attention back so that she was facing the road and swerved to avoid a rather deep pothole. The action caused Regina to lift her head and she frowned at the running eye makeup and smudged lip gloss. The girl was too much of a mess now to take out in public so Emma turned down a small side street and headed away from the shopping/dining area of the city. They’d just have to eat at home.
“I lied to her.” The little brunette waif offered quietly.
The older woman sighed, “I know.”
“How?” She could practically hear the wheels in the girl’s head turning as she tried to figure out how the other woman could figure her out so easily.
“I…have something of a built in lie detector. But not only that I’m a pretty adept reader of body language. The two combine I’ve been told are a rather lethal combination. I saw the way you were folding in on yourself when you were talking to her. It was obvious to me that you were trying your best to protect her from herself. Even if she wasn’t willing to listen to you.”
Regina frowned as tears continued to leak from her the corners of her eyes. “Granny would be so angry with me.”
Emma shrugged, “Perhaps but you did what you had to do to save her life. It’s better than nothing. And surely Granny would understand that.”
“She once told us that it was better to die than give in to the higher society.” Regina confessed.
“In some situations she would probably be considered correct.” The blonde sighed. “Some of us aren’t like the others. Some are cruel and take pleasure in hurting those that should be under their protection. It’s sick and I would never sanction it but it does happen and there isn’t anyone policing them to stop it.”
“You hurt me.” Regina pointed out.
“In all the time that you’ve been with me little one have I ever done anything besides punishing you for your ill manners to harm you?”
The younger woman opened her mouth and then frowned.
Amused green eyes found sulky green in the rear view mirror. Regina huffed and turned away shifting to try and find a comfortable way to sit. “Turn onto your hip. It’ll feel strange but it will take the pressure off the bruises. A little strangeness is better than pain.”
She nodded and shifted the way Emma had told her to finding indeed; the pressure was relieved from the odd position. Her backside throbbed but she wasn’t in as much pain anymore. “Where are we going?”
“Home, I don’t think going out is such a good idea. I know you’re hurting and that’s enough to make anyone waspish.”
The brunette nodded, “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome little one. Try to relax and we’ll be home shortly.”
