Though Lucas admittedly knew exactly why they’d sent him on this particular mission, it still managed to feel unfair. He was what they called a ground type, yes, and that meant the sand would hardly scratch him. But that didn’t mean he was used to the area’s ridiculous sandstorms! His small size as a Cubone was an especially dentrimental trait here, the winds having a much greater influence on his speed for him compared to most others. He was lucky to be as heavy as he was, his weight allowing him to both keep his feet in the sand and his bag anchored to his side.
Not that the bag wasn’t enough of a weight on its own, filled with a few jars of Tasty Honey as it was. Lucas’s mission was to deliver them to a small colony of Combee. Their queen had been injured, so they’d hardly been able to gather it themselves without her help, but Grey had somehow forgotten to (or simply hadn’t cared to, now that he thought about it further) mention the long span of desert he’d have to cross first. Turning around and giving up crossed his mind a few times, the temptation only growing stronger the further he trudged through the hot sand. The cubone looked up towards the sky.
This was going to be a long day...
