It was a loud night in Titans Tower. The team had decided to go ahead and have their Christmas party earlier than normal, in the hopes that it wouldn't be interrupted. So the wreaths had been hung, the mistletoe laid out, and the presents wrapped and under the tree.
It was the presents that had taken center stage of the whole night. Cookies and cocoa lay forgotten as each member opened their gifts.
"Glorious! Many thanks to you, Cyborg." Starfire exclaimed as she examined the sweater he had gotten her.
"No sweat, Star." Cyborg replied before looking at Robin. "Thanks for the new processing disk."
"No problem. Thank you for the book on martial arts, Rae." Robin answered as he smiled at her.
"You're welcome." she responded softly.
"DUDE!" Beast Boy yelled out as he opened his present from Starfire. "Mega Monkeys 6! It doesn't even come out until next year!"
Starfire giggled. "I convinced the store man to sell a copy early. Wonderful, yes?"
"YES!" he ran to the game station as the others gathered around.
Seeing them preoccupied, Raven decided to leave. As she floated through the halls, she couldn't help but feel slightly upset. Beast Boy had been her Secret Santa. And although she had told him she needed nothing, she had hoped he would ignore her like he usually did. But she pushed those feelings away as she had been taught by Azar.
Lost in thought, she didn't see them until they almost collided.
"Woah, Rae! You okay?" Beast Boy asked as he tilted his green head at her.
"I am fine. I apologize." she replied.
"Don't." he said as he rubbed the back of his neck. "Umm...Rae?"
"Yes?"
"I know you told me not to...but when have I ever listened to you?" Beast Boy grinned sheepishly before clearing his throat at her raised eyebrow.
"Anyways, I got you something." he held out a small box to her.
Raven took it and held it cautiously. "Thank you."
"Go on, open it."
She slowly opened it, expecting a book or perhaps a journal. What she got was definitely unexpected.
It was a small golden locket on a matching chain. Opening it up, she was even more thrilled to see a group picture of the team.
"Garfield...this is wonderful." She stated breathlessly.
"Not as wonderful as you." he winked before continuing. "Here, let me put it on you."
Raven turned and allowed him to place the necklace on her. She touched it affectionately before hugging him. He wrapped his arms around her gently and smiled.
"Merry Christmas, Gar."
"Merry Christmas, Rae."
She suddenly kissed his cheek before floating away. As he walked back into the room in an attempt to appear normal, it was obvious he was anything but.
"Hey Green Jeans! Red isn't your color." Cyborg laughed at his friend's blushing face. Turning an even deeper shade of red, Beast Boy sat down and started playing his video game, although it was obvious his heart wasn't into it. His heart...was on other matters.
