Week 8 of the International Vintage Recipe Tour was posted on the blog last night! This week’s culinary escapade took us to the lost country of Ceylon (now known as Sri Lanka) for dinner and a movie night. On the menu it’s Ceylon Curry, a marinated and slow-simmered chicken curry made with fresh homemade coconut milk, a fish that turned out to be spectacularly delicious! The companion movie is the 1954 Elizabeth Taylor melodrama, Elephant Walk, which was filmed on location in Ceylon and features scenes in and around a real-life tea plantation. This was also the post I scared the living bejeezus out of everyone 😳 in my attempts to crack open a coconut using a cleaver. Rest assured, all is well on that front, and a big thank you to everyone who wrote a note expressing concern:) I’m happy to report that the coconuts finally cracked open and everything is still intact on the fingers and hands front. 🙂 🥥 💛 Stop by the blog to read more about the ancient country of Ceylon, watch the movie trailer, see photos of Elizabeth Taylor’s beautiful movie wardrobe, and discover where we are headed next week:) . . . . . #curryrecipes #ceyloncurry #ceylon #srilanka #elizabethtaylor #dinnerandamovie #coconutmilk #homemadecoconutmilk #homemadefoods #slowfoods #chickenrecipes #onepotdinners https://www.instagram.com/p/B9E3DN0ACjw/?igshid=10k29jwngdpwr
