CFALeadercast - Leadership, Vision, Motivation, being Remarkable #leadership #cfaleadercast #management #inspiration
Last Friday I attended the Chick-Fil-A Leadercast that was streaming live from Atlanta, GA. Wesleyan Church in Laurel, DE was hosting the leadercast for around 190 local attendees and one of the satellites for a 85,000 national audience. Speakers were John C. Maxwell, Seth Godin, Mack Brown, Ken Robinson, Erin Gruwell, Frans Johansson, Suzy Welch, Dave Ramsey, Dan Cathy, Mutar Kent, Allison Levine, and hosted by comedian Tripp Crosby. The premise of this event is around leadership and the leadership principles that make you successful in your life and your profession. These speakers were very inspirational and knowledgeable. They weaved personal experiences, humor, and practical methods in defining leadership.
Principles such as managing, innovation, leadership by example, respect, and most importantly, learning. Here's a thought: You don't know everything. You think you do but you really don't. Once you stop learning, you become a manager and therefore a person of "position" rather than a person of influence. Thought leaders organically create a following based on the premise that they lead by example, by communication, by innovation to name a few. These were some of my key takeaways. John Maxwell really had an interesting perspective on why people listen to leaders and managers. He first defined what a manager and a leader meant to an organization. People who "want" to follow leaders are people who are inspired by momentum created by leadership. His five levels of leadership were very thought provoking and relevant.
Seth Godin was another interesting speaker that spoke on the premise of "are you invisible or are you remarkeable? Are you a person that watches the future or creates the future?" He states that we are in an age of storytelling based on human experience verses fact-telling. Seth was an awesome speaker.
I would encourage you to follow me on twitter and roll back to Friday. I tweeted my notes as each speaker took the stage. My twitter name is "@ccasas". I hope you find some interesting tweets that came from the real-time presentations from Friday.
