Amethyst - Redesign

next up is personally my fave of the crystal gems, amethyst. all of her colours were picked from an amethyst geode, and her sclera are black. those are the running themes for over-cooked gems when i redesign them. geode palettes and black sclera. anyway 80s->debut->previous->current

80s: the walkman has just been invented. fanny packs are IN. chuck taylors never went out of style. amethyst is living the dream but also vidalia please help her be cooler. based off of her shapeshift in too short to ride, and some of her pilot designs where she had a fanny pack

debut: vidalia became a mom and amethyst stole the look. she looks like shes about to go to a parent-teacher conference. but, theres a baby steven around now, she might have to set a good example from now on

previous: baby steven is now pre teen steven and she can say mid-level swears again. amethyst has been liberated but also cant dress herself. this outfit drives pearl batty because of how asymmetrical it is. thats why amethyst kept it in the first place

current: this is her “throwback to when vidalia was cool” outfit even though its taken amethyst a solid 500 years to get to this point. i gave her shades because i can and she looks good with them.

heres her fancy gem. i might mess with the colours of it (mostly that middle facet since its way too close to her skin colour, and that white-ish one so it doesnt stand out so bad)

Sapphire & Ruby - Redesign

alright yall here they are, The Two. goes homeworld->war->80s->debut->previous->current. all colours are picked from their respected gems

homeworld - i wanted sapphire to be more prim and proper. i also wanted ruby to have blue diamonds insignia, it didnt make sense to me that she didnt in the first place. i didnt want it to class either, though, so its closer to indigo. blue diamond wants her court to always look aesthetically pleasing

war - after first fusing into garnet,sapphire decides to try out leggings. ruby decides to try out gloves. they are both extremely pleased with the outcome. i also gave ruby some visors, since i want garnets shades to come from one of the two. also gave sapphire pigtails, because shes experimenting with letting her hair down. get it. cause shes rebelling and gets to be free. and letting your hair down is a saying for that. im funny as hell

80s - ruby’s outfit also came from a copy of ebony magazine, as for sapphire... i thought itd be funny if the elegant, poised sapphire had the most embarrassing phase in the 80s. fishnet gloves, fishnet top, two belts, scrunchie- id give her braces if it made sense for a gem to have them. after this sapphire never had any room to talk about fashion. she cant come back from it.

debut, previous, and current - pretty self explanatory. sapphire wears a skirt again and tries to forget the 80s ever happened. ruby has a vest and its so cute it kills me. she also has her headband now.

and heres their fancy gems. theyre probably my favourite ones out of everyones fancy gems, especially rubys. its just so....pink

Garnet - Redesign

alright lads here she comes. thisll be first form->war->80s->debut->previous->current. all her colours are picked from a pyrope garnet

her first form im calling fairy-floss garnet. trust me i LOVE cotton candy garnets design and palette, but since shes based off of a pyrope garnet, i wanted her colours to be consistent. plus fairy-floss garnet just sounds cute.

her war form is a while later after her first fusing. shes still working some stuff out, but shes got the hang of it for the most part.

for her 80s design i looked up a bunch of copies of ebony magazine from that decade and started piecing things together that looked like theyd fit her. this one took the longest i think, mostly because of all the research i did for it, but i really enjoyed doing it

her debut thru current designs are all completely different from her canon designs but still slightly similar, in that i wanted all of them to have similar silhouettes. i think of the three i like her debut form the best. its simple but i like it. ill post sapphire and ruby tomorrow at the same time, and thatll give some insight into garnets forms

and heres her fancy gems. god i really love making the fancy gems. plus a bonus cotton candy garnet because i just adore her palette.

Lapis Lazuli - Redesign

big blue and bitchy is here, its lapis time. her designs follow a different trend, going cracked->healed->neutral->cg. i might mess with her cracked palette, since i designed this a long while ago, and have since found more inspiration. *coughcough* @connieandthecrystalgems​ lapis redesign *cough*

cracked- i wanted her cracked form to cause more issues with her form, like it does for other gems, so her palette is less saturated and her clothes are tattered. i LOVE the mirror effect her eyes had in the show, so i decided to put little crack-like markings around them. she also has the swirly pattern on her stomach that malachite has. since jaspers markings are all sharp and pointy, i always thought that the curvier ones came from lapis’ influence

healed- because she was cracked for so long, i figured thered be some lasting effects since she wasnt healed immediately after being cracked. shes still got the cracks around her eyes, and her eyes still have a slight reflective quality. she was in that mirror for a long time, i think it influenced her. her palette is more saturated

neutral- in the show, when she and steven are flying around and hes showing her the beauty of earth and places she can stay, i really wished she had actually done that. gone and traveled around to see what everything is all about on this planet. i wouldve liked to have seen her end up in empire city, where she visits galleries and learns about art and human culture. she takes up sculpture, where she can use her terraforming powers in creative ways that dont harm the planet

cg- she eventually returns and decides that, while she personally still has beef with the cgs (mainly garnet and pearl, since amethyst had no idea about the mirror) shes learned to love and appreciate the earth and the people who live there. she has an actual connection to this planet, and a tangible reason to protect it. instead of a star, she has a little starfish on her shirt. shes part of the cgs, but in her own way, with her own symbol.

heres her gems- cracked and uncracked. two versions of her cracked gem, one with the gold in the cracks and one without. im still at a loss for how to make a cabochon look fancier, so if anyone has any ideas, lmk

Peridot and Bismuth - Redesign

alright so uhh i didnt upload any redesigns yesterday, i ended up falling alseep right after i posted my ocs and then.....didnt wake up until this morning. whoops so to make up for it heres peridot and bismuth. two for one deal! only the cg outfits, since peridots homeworld uniform didnt change any aside from colour

peridot- her cg outfit is still inspired by the cgs. star on the chest from pearl, star on knees from amethyst, shirt and boots from garnet (she is wearing boots under her limb enhancers) which! i did give her her limb enhancers back. theyre such a cool piece of tech, and i was so sad when she lost them in the show :( bismuth helped her design these

bismuth- im gonna be honest i like her first design way better. her second design is for sure Not finalized and i dont like it that much, but im not sure what to do with it. so please send me some feedback yall i am so lost i gave her some Big Gloves because theyre more blacksmith-y and she looks good with them.

aand their gems. their colours were both picked from their respective irl stones. this is a bit of a short post compared to my other ones, but ive been surprisingly busy lately? way busier than i anticipated. but its also because ive suddenly gained the energy to clean and i must follow that impulse as far as it will take me.
